Blur is the most fun I've had with a racing game in a long time. Sure it's not Gran Turismo or Forza, but that's okay by me. It offers depth, a superior online experience and mods, plus a boat load of racing that will keep you occupied for some time. Add all of that to a great power-up menu with a sensible leveling system and you've got the perfect recipe for racing entertainment.

Blur is certainly an expansive title, and the more you play it, the more you get lost in it. I expected a lot from Bizarre Creations, considering the Project Gotham Racing series is considered to be one of the best automotive franchises of the past. However, in many ways Blur surpasses its predecessor, both in terms of scope and in accessibility. Blur's mix of strategy-based power-ups, load-out menus, and largely varied challenges really make this game a must for all automotive fans. In a genre this oversaturated, it is good to know that there is still some innovation left. Though Blur borrows some of its biggest ideas from pre-existing games, it blends them together in a way that feels completely natural. It may sound clichéd, but Blur is a title that is easy to pick up but hard to put down, and it is a must-buy for all automotive fans.

Blur is a hectic, super stylish racer that is loads of fun. It's part Mario Kart, part Burnout and part Modern Warfare. What more could you want from a racing game? Hardcore fans of racing sims may not be impressed given Blur's decidedly arcade approach to racing, but most people will have a ball. Highly recommended.

The problems here aren't necessarily what Bizarre that did wrong, but issues PGR fans might have. While you can have no power-ups in multiplayer races, the only pure driving events in single-player come from the checkpoint races. Here you still have nitro power-ups though, and the lack of true time trials is a disappointment - though they'd be perfect for a large DLC pack if you ask me (Are you reading this, Bizarre?). There's also the argument that race position is too dependent on luck, which despite not being true, will seem accurate to anyone who doesn't invest the time learning the nuances of Blur's gameplay.

Daniel667 braucht Kanonenfutter!

Blur is a fairly decent title, and if all it had was the racing and no other secondary elements, it would be alright, but not that great. The addition of earning fans through tasks and your abilities, the ability to unlock and mod more cars, and the variety of race modes make this a lot better though. It's great for some fast-paced racing with explosions, and the ability to rank up and gain more and more unlockables make it easy and fun to come back to and play just one more race.

Overall, Blur offers a fun arcade racer with a heavy reliance on power-ups. The main difference from Mario Kart, besides the realistic and impressive graphics, is that you can tell what the power-ups will be before you get them, letting you add a layer of strategy into the races instead of just random chance. 360 gamers looking for something new to play should check out Blur, as the game offers a lot of online fun.

Despite its shortcomings, Blur winds up being a fantastic racing game. Its kart racing innovations, razor-sharp controls, and incredibly fun multi-player modes ensure that it will be played for quite some time. After years of the PGRs, it’s good to see Bizarre Creations try something new with the racing genre while still keeping some of the best aspects of that series around, like the real-world locales and vehicles. Blur is a must for anyone who grew up on Super Mario Kart and wants to see what a more in-depth take on that genre is like.

But replays or not, satisfaction is something that Blur really excels at. The single-player can certainly be a drag with its difficulty and somewhat mundane (and cheap) competition. But in multiplayer, you're constantly being rewarded in one way or another, whether it be through making progress towards a challenge, gaining fans, successfully risking a wreck to win a race, or winning a race by a hair. And even when you're not winning a race, you're still earning fans and shooting enemies, so there's still gratification to be had. Combine all of this and Blur is simply brimming with positive reinforcement, making it one of the most addicting racing games on the market today.

It's ended in a neck to neck race where the foto finish made it clear that Blur is the racing game of the month. The large variety of challenges, cars, tracks and power-ups shifted my preference from Split/Second to Blur. Especially the multiplayer will have a long lifespan. I'm stealing the conclusion from my previous review: rent Split/Second and buy Blur!

Blur is by far my favourite arcade racer of the current gen, and quite possibly ever. A few things let it down slightly. Not being able to customise your car any more than the paint type and colour surprised me, especially when you’re able to customise a lot of other things such as the Mods. Another is the music, which I forgive because you can play your own over it anyway. Overall, I would recommend this to those interested in arcade racers. It really is as fun as it looks.

Blur isn’t really a bad game. It has a fine pedigree and shows it very well, with so much solidity in all of its parts, but it is when all of those parts are brought together that you just feel something isn’t there. That vital spark which could elevate it to Mario Kart status seems to be lost in a sea of neon and burning rubber, but there is still plenty of reason to buy this as a game to chuck in from time to time with a few mates, especially if there are many of them online. Twenty player races are not to be sniffed at and to have an extremely solid engine underneath it is never a bad thing, but the now obligatory XP levelling up system can feel like a step too far at times.

So, ultimately, Need for Speed it most definitely is not. It is definitely fun, though. Sure, single-player career mode gets a bit repetitive after a while, but I still haven’t gotten tired of multiplayer. Blur is a worthwhile addition to the collection of anyone who likes fast-paced racing games but doesn’t expect the realism of serious games such as those in the Forza series.

So with a seven month delay, is Blur a game worth getting for fans of this particular genre? Yes, but only if you're a huge fan. Blur is definitely a good game, and it can be an extremely enjoyable experience. On the other hand, there are times where you can't help but shake this feeling that says 'hey, this should've been priced a little lower' or 'hey, this could've been a downloadable game'. The A.I. can be absolutely unfair, the sound is lackluster, and the car detail could've been much cleaner. But, the multiplayer is great fun, as is the gameplay, and there's a decent amount of variety as far as cars and tracks. But what I haven't mentioned is Split/Second, Disney's newest racer. Without going into a full blown comparison, I will say that if you can only pick one, your money is better spent on Disney's game.

All of these pieces combined, once again, leaves us with an odd result. Aptly named, Blur tries to unclear the line between kart and sim, but in the process may leave many racing enthusiasts of both sorts uncomfortable. The large number of options available does not take into account the more casual demographic, but likewise gives the “hardcore” more room to play with. Clean to the whistle and most elegantly designed, Blur will undoubtedly leave many players bewildered, and frankly my suggestion to try the demo may not cure any doubts. What I can say with certainty is this: if you play Blur online, the experience is one of a kind.

Blur is a great effort from Bizarre Creations, one that will introduce a slew of kart-racing fans to the scene. While its visuals don't overwhelm like Split/Second's, it holds its own with cool weapons-based gameplay, making it a fun experience.

It was a good month for the arcade racing fans, with Blur and Split/Second coming out at the same time. Opinions differ, as usual: intense gameplay in Split/Second or power-ups and tactical races in Blur, with some explosions for good measure. On the other hand, those who fancy multiplayer will have much more to do and many challenges to overcome in Blur than in Split/Second, but the limited race types in single-player can be an issue.

Thankfully, the lame split-screen mode and unremarkable visuals won't keep you from enjoying this exciting racing game. The odd combination of Mario Kart and PGR is surprisingly fun, and the added rewards system makes it extremely difficult to put this racer down. Blur is so fast and fun to control that you can lose hours slamming into enemies and racking up fans, always coming back for one more race before you turn the system off and walk away. This unlikely marriage has created an offspring that does a fine job of honoring its well-respected parents.

Provided they do, and people experience Blur first hand, this has every chance of being a really successful game. There is much more here than there appears, for those who are willing to scratch beneath the surface. But this is a message that Activision needs to really get across to both casual and hardcore players.

Still, Blur packs a punch and its arcade gameplay is habit-forming. It may not blow you away, but it will win you over.

Sold as a retelling of Super Mario Kart, Blur ends up being a solid game on its own merits. The fast-paced races, exciting power-ups and fun online mode aren't marred by a shallow single-player career and a low supply of race tracks. The game's fun online mode more than makes up for any minor issues I have with the game!

As its been echoed many times in this review Blur has its flaws, and a lot of them are the result of good ideas not working out, this however doesn't deter from the fun factor that the game produces. It's a blast to play with friends and online as the smack talk is always great, the addition of split screen in the PC version was also a welcomed surprised and one that it beyond rare.

While Blur certainly doesn't break the mould as far as driving games are concerned, it does provide enough of a compelling edge to keep the player coming back, if only to reach the top of friend leaderboards. The vehicle handling is more akin to the Burnout series than Forza, but is therefore more conducive to the game's gimmicky approach to racing games. While it may not have the single player longevity of achieving the Elite License in Burnout Paradise, the career mode has enough to offer without driving you to distraction.

Blur isn't the addictive, competitive online game that people wanted it to be. Rather, Blur is a palate-cleansing game, the type of experience you pop in for a few minutes with your friends when you're looking for a break between sessions of a game you really like marathoning. If you love a more hardcore racing experience, and the idea of truly chaotic combat sounds appealing, than Blur might be for you. If you're looking for a fun, pick-up-and-play combat racer, then I think you need to go back to Mario Kart or, better yet, pick up the excellent Split/Second.

Blur is fast, chaotic, and flashy. It may not be particularly original or memorable, but it could make for some great post-bar silliness with your friends on par with a bad kung fu movie. Like a skittish commitment-phobe, as soon as you start to take Blur too seriously, it all falls to pieces.
