Boom Blox is an ideal Wii game. It’s a box of toys you can throw around without a care in the world. It’s incredibly addictive, beautifully designed and if this is the kind of quality we can expect from EA’s Spielberg collaboration, we can’t wait to see what happens next.

Boom Blox is without a doubt one of the best games available for the Nintendo Wii. This is no mean feat for a third-party release on a console known most for its impressive first-party lineup. Count Boom Blox as a job well done for EA and as a welcome first step for one of the world's premier filmmakers into an interactive world.

Boom Blox is a fabulous family game. The puzzles are challenging without being daunting and they will appeal to kids, teens and adults. They can be explored individually or with others. And even when doing the puzzles alone, you never feel lonely, because the game characters join you and observe your progress from the sidelines. They cheer for you and set off fireworks when you succeed.

BOOM BLOX is so simple and its appeal so universal that we're hard pressed to think of another Wii game that can so effectively bring a room together. Whether it's the Jenga mode, taking turns knocking gems off each others' destructible castle walls, or bringing down a tower together in the cooperative challenges, BOOM BLOX is one of the most gratifying jump-in-and-play games you can get on the Nintendo Wii.

Boom Blox is simply a laundry list of great features and options wrapped around an incredibly fun, expertly designed, and well-tuned puzzle game. Sure, its cute veneer won't do it any favors with the more intense console crowd, but I found it charming and refreshingly cheery. It's a casual game made for a casual crowd, but it's far and away the best one I've ever played. Buy this game.

With minimalist style, some gamers may be turned off by the bright colors and the lack of complicated extras. Spielberg serves up a whole package, from a challenging single player campaign to a fun and fast multiplayer option. Boom Blox delivers so much content, that it would be hard not to find something to love in this title. Give it a try. What looks to be rather simple is actually complex and will keep you playing for hours. With some many third party titles dropping the ball, it’s amazing to see someone get the idea behind the success of the Wii so right.

Hats off to EA for taking a simple concept and turning it into a must-have title for the Wii; it’s fun, addictive, and thanks to its flexibility holds mass appeal. Whether you prefer fast ‘n’ frantic action or carefully planned strategy, Boom Blox offers something for everyone. Guaranteed to delight even the most jaded gamer – and their kids as well.

Boom Blox gets my highest praise not because of its masterly delivery, clever controls or intriguing levels but because it makes me and my family genuinely enjoy playing it together.

My friends gave Boom Blox a solid "A" for the multiplayer action, but I found the single player modes less compelling. These offer a more puzzle-oriented experience as you try to take down structures in the fewest possible throws. It's only mildly addicting, and the "goodies" you unlock are mainly just items for use in the "create mode". The create mode is a powerful editor that lets you construct your own stages, but most gamers will only tinker with it briefly. Solo play doesn't do this game justice, but if you have one or more friends on hand, Boom Blox may be the ultimate Wii experience.

Boom Blox is a delightful puzzle game that should appeal to a broad audience. It’s both easy to grasp yet incredibly difficult to master. If you are looking for a strong single player puzzler or a multiplayer party game—this should definitely be on your short list.

It’s probably fair to say that many gamers didn’t get too excited when they learned that Steven Spielberg made the decision to dabble in the gaming industry. After Boom Blox however, I think it’s safe to say that most will eagerly look forward to the next game he has a hand in. Boom Blox is easily the most pleasing surprise of 2008 and is a game that is highly recommended to anyone who enjoys playing games with friends or family. As a single-player the experience isn’t quite so memorable, although it’s still enjoyable, and it’s a shame that you can only trade level designs online but these are really the only complaints that can be levelled at the game. As an offline multiplayer experience on the Wii, it’s the best game we’ve played and it’s a game that uses the unique motion-sensing controls to perfection.

When all is said and done, Boom Blox is one of the best examples of a casual title that can cater to multiple kinds of gamers: hardcore, pick-up-and-play and even children. Simple puzzles open up more advanced challenges, and add to tons of unlockable content, engaging multiplayer elements and the ability to create and tweak puzzles. If Spielberg can continue to work this magic for his future titles, we may just have to reconsider the traditional Hollywood-game precedent set by sub-par offerings.

However, when three slightly lacking game styles are only a small portion of the overall package, it's easier to overlook the weaknesses in favour of the strengths. As an example of how a vaguely familiar idea can be turned into something unique and interesting, Boom Blox succeeds massively. As providing a community for exchanging new levels and ideas develops, we can see this one lasting for a long time.

A true gem amongst a lot of bile in the Wii's software library. Don't avoid the game for its goofy, Cartoon Network worthy characters, and you'll have a blast. The editor, the explore mode, adventure mode, multiplayer mode, addictiveness – heck – the sheer, unadulterated fun of this game cannot be overshadowed by what some might call a slightly immature front end. If you enjoy games, it should be quite clear what to do. Superb.

It's a game that works on so many levels. Even as a group of 'hardcore' gamers we found ourselves enjoying the multiplayer modes more than most games we've played this year, and it's equally playable with non-gamers. Even the single-player mode is great for playing in groups, with people always shouting out potential one-hit solutions or how stupid your last throw was. EA has made a game that people of all ages and skill levels can play and enjoy.

With amazing replay value, a tremendous amount of polish, ingenious puzzles, lots of creativity and fantastic use of the Wii Remote, Boom Blox is one of those rare games which delivers what it claims to: fun for everyone.

Think of Boom Blox as a combination of Jenga and Sierra's classic PC game, The Incredible Machine. The realistic reaction of the blocks to your stimulus is remarkably satisfying, and it becomes the basis for some great puzzles. Carefully rotating the camera around the structure in order to find the perfect angle to attack the problem from requires a lot of thought, especially as the puzzles get more fiendish later in the game. It's also a perfect game for the entire family, being deep enough for adults to appreciate and visceral enough for kids to get a huge kick out of.

A Wii-exclusive puzzle game from Steven Spielberg could have ended up as Close Encounters of the Turd Kind. As it turns out, the man has a gift for the abstract and has conceived a wonderful game that could be played with physical objects but is far more interesting and practical as a video game. EA's talented studio has brought Spielberg's ideas to life with a flood of ingenious level designs supported by the technical prowess of the controls and physics. The upshot is one of the best Wii games yet.

Boom Blox might not be the blockbuster, cinematic video game that many -- including myself -- expected from the mind of Spielberg, but that doesn't make it any less fun. It's a game that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and preferences. Think you won't like Boom Blox? I dare you to try it. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Boom Blox combines an interesting mix of Jenga, Lincoln Logs, exploding stuff and Wii interactivity that's appropriate for kids, grandparents and even sports-obsessed family members.The ability to make your own customized levels is awesome, an option you should take advantage of even if you suck at building things. These Blox are stacked with potential – don't miss out.

But these tiny grumbles mean nothing when the birds have started singing and the dawn is peeking through the curtains and you don't care because you've just worked out if you hit the vanishing block at the bottom of the left tower the small chemical block will hit the big chemical block which should send enough concrete bricks flying to topple the tower on the right and smash the gems. Nor when you're watching someone who claims to hate videogames take sheer delight in throwing a virtual bowling ball around. Boom Blox is brilliant alone, fantastic with friends, a superb addition to the puzzle genre and a game that will make you glad you own a Wii. Here's hoping it's only the first of its kind.

When it comes down to it, Boom Blox is a game that has a great, simple gameplay concept that’s executed very well to become one of the premiere third-party games on the Wii, especially when looking at your multiplayer options outside of the games that Nintendo has made which tend to come to mind first for multiplayer gaming. The biggest issue against Boom Blox has to be the $50 price tag on the game right now, which doesn’t really fit the game of this type that well, but your purchase will probably be vindicated once you see all the content that the game offers. The next thing EA should be doing is getting a hold of the Jenga license and putting these guys on that game to do the classic game some justice, which Atari couldn’t even do.

Whilst Boom Blox may look childish, it will appeal to audiences of all ages. The easy pick-up-and-play gameplay is simple yet effective and the addictiveness level will get players coming back for more. Boom Blox is a one-of-a-kind game which wouldn’t have the same effect on any other console and the multiplayer is one to match the high standard set by Wii Sports. I am now eagerly awaiting EA and Spielberg’s next game in the series as Boom Blox has started something which could be truly remarkable. Some may even go as far as saying EA are thinking outside the blox with this one.

Anyway, the game has its oddities and turnoffs, but overall it's a blast to play and you'll keep coming back for more. The sheer volume of levels (over 300) is enough to get your money's worth. Add on the fact that you can make your own levels and you've got yourself an endless supply of monkey shooting, kitten slaughtering enjoyment. Remember that old Battletanx commercial with the Downy bear? Good times for everyone!

Am Anfang vielleicht noch belächelt, ist Boom Blox ein echter Knallertitel geworden. Maßgeblich dazu bei trägt das simple, aber süchtig machende Spielprinzip. Gepaart mit einer guten Physikengine und einem abwechslungsreichen Leveldesign, solltet ihr euch schleunigst mit ein paar Klötzchen-Kamerade vor der Mattscheibe einfinden und euch durch die bunten Würfel-Welten spielen. Das Boom Blox in der zweiten Spielhälfte vom taktischen Weg weggeht und sich mehr dem Shooter-Genre zuwendet, mag manchem etwas sauer aufstoßen aus Sicht der Spielermotivation war diese Entscheidung aber absolut richtig.

Het concept van Boom Blox lijkt kinderachtig en de leeftijdsaanduiding versterkt dat idee, maar kinderlijk is het spel allerminst. Boom Blox is verrassend origineel en erg goed uitgewerkt. De moeilijkheidsgraad van de puzzels is goed opgebouwd en door de verdeling in hoofdstukken is er voldoende afwisseling. De puzzels bieden bovendien voldoende uitdaging, ook voor een volwassen speler. Aangezien er nog steeds verdacht weinig interessante games verschijnen voor zo'n vernieuwend platform als de Wii, is Boom Blox een interessante aanvulling. De game maakt op een goede manier gebruik van de Wiimote en het is prettig dat de bediening tot die Wiimote beperkt blijft. Het uiterlijk van het spel is wat kinderlijk, met als uitschieter de waggelende figuurtjes die je toren willen slopen, maar laat dat je vooral niet afschrikken.

So is anyone really surprised that he can capture what pure, fun gameplay can be? Boom Blox is a game that works on one simple gameplay idea and some serious thought given to depth. If you were that kid who enjoyed building blocks as high as you could at pre-school and then fervently knocking them over again, you’ll love Boom Blox. There are no long dialogue trees, and no extensive character customization. There’s no open world environment, and certainly no leveling up. What Boom Blox does feature is simple, old-fashioned fun. And in an era where many games choke on their feature list and narrative complexity, that’s nothing to scoff at.

Overall, this is a strong party game with some good, challenging one-player modes, even though the game suffers a little from a lack of powerful hardware. The graphics are simplistic and thematic, and the music is not repetitive or annoying and fits comfortably into the background. The controls are awesome and the replay value is great due to the multiplayer. The level creator is not only robust, but allows you to share levels with friends. This is a definite purchase, either new or used, and I think you would be hard pressed to be disappointed by this title. Certainly the best thing Spielberg has done since The Flintstones Movie. Man that was crap. Not like Boom Blox.

Finally, that being said: It’s also a terrific drinking game. Just remember to use that Wii-mote strap, before you accidentally knuckle-ball your unrestrained and quite-real controller—rather than an imaginary, massless bowling-ball—straight ‘into’ the candy-colored Boom Blox world residing just beyond your thousand-dollar flat-screen TV. Trust me on this one.

Still, if you're looking for a game you can play with friends and family - - one that everybody will be able to pick up and enjoy in a matter of minutes -- look no further than EA Boom Blox. It's a fun puzzler and also a game that really puts Nintendo's controller to great use.

Boom Blox is a game built for the Wii, not because of it. Unlike many other games on the platform it is hard to fathom playing without a Wiimote in your hand. If only for that reason alone it is a title that deserves attention, but thankfully there is much more to praise Boom Blox about. It’s one of those games that’s very easy game to play, but difficult to go on and master. It’s in the same vein as Super Monkey Ball if you want to start comparing, and because of this it is not only a game all kids should end up enjoying, but also a game the kid in everyone should end up liking to some extent as well. All in all, it is a fantastic, albeit highly unexpected first venture for the exciting Steven Spielberg / EA collaboration. Other companies should most certainly take note. More please!

Boom Blox is a fun game. It’s probably one of the better Wii games out there right now for gaming parties with your casual-gaming friends. The problem, for me, is that it’s not $50 fun. Toss in online level-browsing, fix some of the slowdowns, and give us an unlocked cooperative game and it would be an awesome game. The reality is that it’s still an enjoyable experience, if a bit pricey.

Still, this is one of the more intriguing Wii titles I've played in a while. Grab some friends, because Boom Blox gets better the more people you crowd around a T.V.

Games and movies can get along, provided that no one is making a game into a movie and vice-versa. Boom Blox is a tremendous puzzler that uses the Wiimote to great effect and can be played by a broad spectrum of folk at the same time. It’s fun, accessible, well made and can stand up there with the puzzle greats of our generation.

Literally anyone can get into the game in a matter of seconds and the extremely addictive multi player mode ensures no one will want to leave for a long time. It’s one of the Wii’s most accessible and addictive offerings, and if you're in the market for a good party game Boom Blox is the one to pick up.

Ondanks zijn tamme verhaal en een paar overbodige gamemodes, maar Boom Blox maakt veel goed door gewoonweg meer puzzels en levels in je richting te sturen dan je op kan – zowel in single als in multiplayer. In Steven Spielberg termen gesproken is dit gaan 'Schindler's List', maar wel stukken beter dan 'Hook'

The result of Boom Blox is a refreshing use of the Wii-mote with a very smooth learning curve which mainly kids will enjoy. On the other hand, the game feels somewhat "unfinished" - partly thanks to the simple graphics - and after a while even goalless. It does offer you some gratification after completing a difficult level, but the extra attributes you can use in the editing mode aren't really worth the trouble, especially not when you're never intending on using it.

Most of the hundreds of puzzles are fun to play alone, and it's also entertaining to taunt friends during their turn as they try to keep a tower from collapsing. The ability to create your own levels adds quite a bit of value as well. In terms of where it ranks in Spielberg's body of work, Boom Blox is no Schindler's List, but it's a heck of a lot better than Hook.
