Description

Box Blox Deluxe is a single-player 3D Tetris-style game. There are two game modes, The Classic and the Enhanced game. Gameplay in the standard game is exactly the same as in Tetris. Blocks of different shapes advance towards the player and points are scored for completing rows across the play area. In this game the play area is a box, hence the title. When a level is completed the play area is cleared and the process starts again. As the player progresses through the levels the blocks fall faster and some of the later levels have blocks already positioned to make the game progressively more difficult. At the end of a level the player is awarded bonus points according to how many clear rows there are counting down from the top / far end of the play area.

There is an Enhanced mode of gameplay which features oddly shaped blocks. For example there are shapes composed of a single block and others composed of five blocks rather than the four blocks of the Classic game. In addition there are special blocks that, for example, expand when in position or which burn all adjacent blocks on the same row.

In this game virtually everything is in 3-D and is animated by default. The play area/box shakes for instance. The blocks are made up of molecule-like strictures that dance about, the background is in space and has stars and asteroids moving around it. The animations can be turned off via the game settings option from the main menu. Once changed the new settings apply to the game in progress. The blocks can be rotated and positioned as they advance towards the player either via the keyboard or via the mouse.
