The many monsters and rooms make Brain Dead 13 a fun adventure while the original story line makes it stand out from the Dragon's Lair games. The graphics and music are both excellent at showing what can be accomplished when the effort is put into a product. If you liked ReadySoft's previous interactive adventure games, chances are you'll die to get a chance to play this masterpiece. Combine its imaginative and humorous storyline along with its action packed scenes and Brain Dead 13 is a "nightmare" come true!

For those players out there who just couldn't get enough of games such as Dragon's Lair and Space Ace, full-motion video is back in Braindead 13. I've never been a big fan of these types of games, however this title is not only the quickest loading i've ever seen, however the graphics on the 3DO are nearly flawless. Very clear and colorful. Not too much replay value here, though, but the humor throughout the game seems to make it all worth while when you make the wrong decision.

Though Brain Dead 13 is not what you would call a thinking man's game, it is a heck of a lot of fun. Purists may complain that the graphics sometimes get pixelated (due to the video compression) and there are a few loading pauses, but Brain Dead 13 is well worth checking out. Who knows, it may even give you some good ideas on how to take over the world.

Inherently I dislike these games with a vengeance. From Space Ace to Dragon's Lair, I'd always been more content to watch them than play them. ReadySoft however, has made a game that looks so cool, it's forced me to take a step back and re-evaluate the genre. Refinements in the way the game plays, simplifying it to a degree, makes BD13 surprisingly playable. While I doubt I'll ever embrace the genre whole-heartedly, I do like this game.

Im Vergleich zu anderen Spielen wird hier einfach zu wenig Interaktion geboten. Würden wir den Film an sich bewerten, wäre er deutlich mehr Punkte wert.

The PC edition of Dragon's Lair is a more fluid, more enjoyable laser disc translation. It's the game fans of this genre should grab. Consider taking Brain Dead 13 for a spin only if you've already memorized the classics, or want to play this type of game on the consoles.

Brain Dead 13 does have one positive aspect: the animated cartoon that provides the framework for your limited interaction. Full of colorful characters (both literally and figuratively), the clips feature incredibly smooth animation all neatly packed onto one CD-ROM. Although this level of production quality is no minor technical feat, it's not enough to save this game from being inducted into my own personal computer game Hall of Shame. Unless you're a fan of the Dragon's Lair series of games, I strongly suggest that you avoid this exercise in absolute frustration.

Instead of logical puzzles, Brain Dead 13 is almost exclusively an exercise in trial and error. In one bedroom scene, you actually have to run towards a ghost with a sword, which makes absolutely no sense. Brain Dead 13 does offer the ability to select multiple paths, which sounds like a good idea until you find yourself moving in circles! The full-screen graphics are fairly pixelated but not too bad for a Jaguar title. The audio is not as clear as you'd hope for a CD title. I like the Halloween theme, but only die-hard FMV fans will appreciate this poorly conceived title.

Sounds and graphics are disappointing. The scenes and characters are colorful, but bad compression leaves objects blurry or ill-defined. Voices are sometime unintelligible and the frantic music gets old because you hear it hundreds of times while trying to master the controls. Play Braindead 13 and you'll be brain-dead before long.
