Breakthru is essentially Spy Hunter edge-on. It's fun, easy to get the hang of, but hard to complete. And it's quite addictive.
NESTop Secret (Mar, 1994)

There seems to be a spate of this type of game at the moment and Breakthru could equally well be christened Green Beret in a jeep. I found that this version was too long and difficult to be particularly addictive and the relatively small graphics do little to add to its appeal.
Unlimited continues ensure completion of the game, but the dullness may have you turning it off long before recovering the jet.

For goodness sake, this could have been a good game, but US Gold forgot to play it before it started production.

Commodore 64Zzap! (Feb, 1987)
A complete waste of time and money.

Breakthru would be a rip-roarin’ good time, if it weren’t for the crappy controls. Instead of pressing “A” to accelerate, like every other NES racing game ever, you push right on the “D” pad. This frees up the “A” and the “B” button to be “jump” and “shoot” respectively. A seemingly wise decision, until you realize that going fast is tantamount to instant death, and slowing down is tantamount to a slower death that you can easily see coming, so you’re free to shout “NOOOOO!!!!!” as your truck explodes.
