But still...even with all of this...the sales of Britney's dance beat will not suffer. Not really.

The graphics are nice, the songs include her major hits, but there just isn't enough variety to keep you engrossed in single player mode, but 2-player is a blast. Excellent bonuses to be unlocked. If Britney's Dance Beat had included more songs then this could have been a brilliant title. Worth considering, especially for Britney fans.

Die Spieldauer ist Genre-typisch sowieso immer sehr kurz und da hätte eine größere Song-Vielfalt viel gutmachen können - auch wenn die bekannten Hits einen hohen Wiedererkennungswert haben. Grafisch durchaus ansprechend und endlich einmal einen Zwei-Spieler-Modus bietend, wird das Spiel die zahlreichen Fans des Pop-Stars sicherlich hinter sich vereinen können - zumal auch die Steuerung nicht besser sein könnte. Doch angesichts der mittlerweile doch recht starken Konkurrenz sollten sich die Fans von Rhythmus-Spielen im Allgemeinen vorher überlegen, ob ihnen fünf Songs ausreichen, um Spaß zu haben.

The shortage of music and the relative simplicity of the gameplay in Britney's Dance Beat will keep it from truly appealing to rhythm game enthusiasts, or anyone who isn't thoroughly enraptured by the young pop star. However, if you are a fan, then you're in for a treat, as there is no shortage of Britney in this game--despite the fact that you don't play as her. Aside from getting to interact with the music, there is an abundance of unlockable goodies, including "immersive video" of Britney in concert, which uses proprietary technology that lets you pan the camera 360 degrees in real time, as well as a ton of behind-the-scenes video.

Many people will attempt to write off Dance Beat as a true game. That's not entirely fair to the game itself. It's short and definitely geared more as a memento to Britney fans than anyone else. I, on the other hand, wanted to like this game a lot. I think rhythm and dance titles on a handheld format are an excellent idea as it introduces something more than mindless arcade action. Unfortunately, there is a real art in crafting these types of games. In Dance Dance Revolution, even the toughest music titles appear to have some correlation to the music itself and that, I think, is the key to a successful rhythm and dance title. Since this ingredient is missing from Dance Beat, it's hard to recommend this to anyone other than Britney fans. Like her cinematic debut, Dance Beat relies too much on its namesake. Hopefully, more suitable material will come to fore, like (in my fantasies) perhaps a Kylie Minogue rhythm and dance.

There are some noteworthy bonuses included with Britney's Dance Beat though, including an immersive video function, which allows you to simulate what it's like to attend a Britney Spears concert. You have full 360 degrees freedom and can see everything and everyone as the action unfolds; I've never seen anything like it in a PS2 game before. The behind the scenes video-clips don't offer a whole lot of interesting moments but they are entertaining to watch one time. Unless you are a hardcore Britney Spears fan, you may want to just give this game a few nights rental. The lack of music and simplistic yet quirky gameplay mechanics are only entertaining for a short time. If its rhythm-based action you crave, go with Parappa 2 or Gitaroo Man. If you're looking for dance pad action, stick with the DDR series. There is nothing new to see here.

Britney's Dance Beat for the Game Boy Advance is a decent music-inspired video game, but it's definitely less about music and rhythm than it is a platform to promote Britney Spears herself.

To begin with, you only need to concentrate on one button and the music's rhythm. Once you've cleared the first audition the action becomes a little more complicated, using more buttons. Auditions have two characters in a type of danceoff. If you can string together some moves you'll throw your opponent offbalance, score more points and have more chance of making it to the next audition. Throughout the game you'll get to unlock Britney music and behind the scenes videos. There aren't many tracks included, so unless you're a Britney fan you're likely to tire of the music quickly.

Overall, Britney's Dance Beat is a solid game that's fun while it lasts but, unfortunately, it doesn't last long. It doesn't pack the variety of your typical Dance Dance Revolution game, but if you need your Britney fix, this is a good way to get it. It's a definite rental, and if it's found in a bargain bin (read: $20 or less), it's a good purchase for fans of dance games. Oh, and one last note, in case you were wondering: there is no nude code for Britney.

Ich oute mich jetzt mal: Ich mag sowohl Britney als auch ihre Musik. Deshalb kann ich dem Dance Beat auch noch einiges abgewinnen. Die Tanzszenen sind gut animiert, und Britneys Kommentare motivieren zum Weitermachen. Nur das eigentliche Spiel hatte ich binnen einer Stunde gelöst. Fünf Lieder (plus zwei Remixes) sind einfach viel zu wenig. Zudem hat man die Tastenkombos schnell im Griff. Schade, dass es keine Tanzmatte wie in der Konsolenversion gibt. Das würde den Spaß noch etwas steigern. So bleibt Britney’s Dance Beat ein Fall für Fans, die nicht genug von Miss Pepsi bekommen können.

Britney's Dance Beat is good game for what it is, but you'll finish it easily in less than five hours (and that's being generous). I highly recommend renting this, if in fact, you're interested at all. One short note: I have grown to withstand Britney's halting, overproduced songs, and through much repetition, I guilty admit that Stronger has become my favorite. Poor pathetic me, tapping my 30-something foot to Britney Spears. I need a life.

Dance Beat's graphics are better than its sound, though everything has a dull orange cast to it (judging from backlit screenshots the orange cast is more due to the GBA's lighting issues than the colors used). The animations are nice and detailed, and it's obvious that there was extensive motion capturing. Britney dancing looks like Britney dancing, so that's a good thing. One problem is that the A-button prompt is red and the B-button prompt is sort of an orange-yellow. It's easy to mistake the two and that hurts your score.

I actually enjoy playing Dance Dance Revolution on the PlayStation, because it's such a physical game that gets you in the action. But when you reduce that design into control presses, the game isn't exactly a lot of fun...and that's exactly the problem with Britney's Dance Beat. Pressing A and B at the right time during a song might be challenging, but it's not a whole lot of fun. And at least with Dance Dance Revolution you get a nice grab-bag of tunes...not everyone can stand the sodapop-sugary-sweet Britney Spears formula.

This game is all about Britney, and unless you happen to be a loyal fan with a PS2 you probably won’t give this title a second glance. Being a Britney game you are instantly limited to only the songs that she performs, but when the designers limit you to only five of these songs you have a demo; not a game.

Vom Spielerischen her bietet Britney`s Dance Beat nur knapp 30 Minuten Spielspaß, danach kann man sich auf`s Quiz stürzen oder sich die Videoclips ansehen. Alle Zocker sollten um diesen Titel ein ganz großen Bogen machen und sich für die 25 Euro lieber etwas anderes kaufen. Britney Spears Fans können einen Blick riskieren, aber selbst Fans werden nicht lange glücklich mit diesem Titel werden.

Alors que tout semble lui réussir et après son récent succès au cinéma, la jeune Spears fait un véritable bide sur Gameboy Advance. D’une durée de vie extrêmement limitée et d’une réalisation plutôt médiocre, le nouveau soft musical édité par THQ ne laissera pas ses traces dans l’histoire du jeu vidéo.
