DescriptionAdventure Ponies! is a platform game with retro-style graphics, based on the TV show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. It was originally released on the website of The Hub, the TV channel broadcasting the show. The player takes control of one of the show's pony protagonists in order to find the "Elements of Harmony" and defeat villains.
The game consists of six levels, where the player must jump across platforms, avoid spikes and pitfalls, and collect apples for bonus score. To finish a level, the player must find the "Element of Harmony"; after each level follows a boss fight with one of the villains from the show. The player has a limited amount of health and lives, but life and health bonuses can be found.
There are six pony characters in total to choose from. Initially only one character is available, and a new pony is unlocked when the player finishes all six levels. The ponies have different abilities - e.g. Twilight Sparkle can shoot laser beams and use teleport pads, while Applejack can climb ladders and kick. The levels remain the same for every character, though with slight changes to account for their varying skills.

ReleaseThe game first appeared in a May 2012 animated promotional video for the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic cartoon show; it depicted one of the show's protagonist playing an 8-bit platform game set in the show's universe.
In a press release from June 28, 2012, The Hub TV Network announced their participation in the 2012 Comic-Con International; among other things, the local restaurant The Broken Yolk was temporarily turned into "The Hub Headquarters", with all visitors receiving "a secret code to gain exclusive access on Hubworld.com to the eagerly anticipated "My Little Pony Friendship is Magic" themed, 8-bit "Adventure Pony" game already teased on the network." The code (HUBMLP8BIT), when entered on the game's page at the Hub's website, would unlock the game.
The game was later made public for all to play.
