Chisel is an arcade-like game based around drilling. Each level consists of a 2D structure where the character is able to run around. To proceed to the next level a 100% drilling score needs to be achieved. By pressing the space bar the character dives down and uses his head as a drill to cut through the structure, resurfacing on the other side. The part that has been cut disappears and the two halves cling together again, deforming the environment. This process is made more difficult through enemies running around the structure as well, or moving around inside of it. Some of them can be taken out by hitting them with the drill movement from below, while others are invincible. For each successful drill the drilling percentage is raised. As the area shrinks every time, it becomes harder to find safe drilling spots in the end. The character has three lives per level and there are also diamonds to collect for extra points.
