DescriptionThe Heist is a top-down driving game where the player takes control of a black van, trying to reach the end of the stage to their hideout before the timer runs out, avoiding traffic and obstacles as well as police cars. The premise of the game is completing robberies and escaping from the scene on the highway. The player does not take part in these robberies, but receives credits for them at the beginning of the chase. Players can earn more credits from these heists by completing smaller ones and hiring specialists that will add extra credits. Completing missions will earn respect as well that are needed to unlock certain specialists.
During the chase, the player must weave through traffic and avoid obstacles. Credits can be deducted if a player slams hard into an object or destroy civilian vehicles, but players can earn credits by destroying police cars. Credits can be used to hire specialists as well as purchase upgrades for the vehicle such as better armor, a faster engine as well as weapons such as guns, oil slicks, missiles and land mines. Players must also make it to the end of the stage before the timer runs out, this is shown on the bottom of the screen where a status bar shows how far the van has to go to reach the hideout along with the remaining time on the right side of that bar.
The controls consists of the arrow buttons, Top being accelerator, Bottom for brakes as well as the Left & Right arrow for turning. Players can also use the "Shift" button to slow down time and weave through thick traffic spots as well as use the "Space" button to use their weapons once they have been unlocked.
