The Letter is the first episode of four of the first season of the episodic adventure game The Last Door. It is a third-person adventure game with pixelated retro graphics. The game is set in Victorian England and starts with the suicide of Anthony Beechwood. His former boarding school friend Jeremiah Devitt receives a letter from Anthony in October 1891 and travels to the Beechwood mansion to investigate what has happened.

The player controls the game with a cursor through the mouse or by tapping. When hovering over an interesting element or item the cursor for instance changes into a hand to show it is possible to interact. Items are stored in an inventory at the bottom of the screen.
