Super Mafia Land

Super Mafia Land is a side-scrolling platformer inspired by Super Mario Bros. 2, but with a mafia theme. At the start of each level players can choose between Giuseppe, Bruno or Maria, each with slightly different characteristics based on jumping power, athletics and strength. That way Giuseppe is able to jump higher while Maria can float for a while.

The gameplay is akin to classic platformers, with colourful graphics and minor puzzle elements. Areas often contain multiple doors and paths, and keys are sometimes needed to open them. The characters can move around, jump, gain extra speed and charge by crouching to get more height. Most enemies can be jumped on, leaving them vulnerable. They can then be grabbed and hurled towards others. Certain items can be pulled out of the ground and remove barriers, such as bombs. The characters are also able to dig and move items around.

During the levels characters collect fruit, often found in secret areas, to play a minigame with chests at the end of the level and replenish health.
