DescriptionThis simulation runs players through a series of variations on the ethically contentious philosophical Trolley Problem: if it is morally acceptable to throw a switch diverting a runaway train car hurtling toward three innocents on the track away from them onto a nearby section of track inhabited by only one bystander who will surely die. And, if so, if it is still acceptable to do so if the single bystander is the player's father. And so forth.
The program keeps track of the player's choices, but does not judge or score. The presentation is stark and minimalist -- the player's imagination fills in the specifics.
