Description
Wumpus 98 is a
Hunt the Wumpus variant. The game presents the player wandering a top-down cave maze mapped out crudely on screen rather than described in purely textual terms. Perils of the cave system include player-relocating bats, player-crippling pits (indicated by breezes perceptible within a one-room radius), and of course the horrible Wumpus -- slaying which is the player's goal, of course, but from a one-room distance (you know when you can smell it).
Each cave is connected to four others, and an unusual feature of this conversion is the possibility of stumbling upon extra arrows, giving a player a whole quiver of false alarms to shoot at shadows that might or might not be the horrible, hideous, eminently-huntable Wumpus. Moving and firing are both achieved here through clicking on the appropriate direction amongst on-screen compass roses.

Trivia
In regards to the technical overhead, the author wryly notes that this JavaScript version "requires approximately 1000 times as much RAM as my old TI version to run comfortably."
