Description

Bunch of Heroes is a top-down action shooter with a strong focus on multiplayer. The game is heavily influenced by pop and pulp culture with numerous references to famous (and not so famous) films, shows and books. The visual design is best be described as "cartoonish" with strong colours and unrealistic character proportions.

It features four vastly different looking, but generally similar, playable characters. Those are armed with a multitude of weapons ranging from Uzis (standard weapon with unlimited ammuniton) to assault rifles, rocket launchers to more fantastical weapons like a tesla gun. To support the players, turrets are available for pick-up and provide a time-limited point defence. Different grenade types complete the armoury of the titular heroes. In addition, each playable character has a unique "ultimate attack", which become available after collecting enough power-ups.

The game has an excuse story, which very loosely ties the three playable acts (with three missions each) together. The three acts are very different in setting and enemies. The enemies are drawn from pulp fiction with a strong focus on Zombies. But those zombies come in very different flavours (eg. Nazi, Redneck, Martian). The stated goal of the heroes is to "safe the cheerleaders", which must be done ingame several times. The missions itself are devided in several small objectives which need to be fulfilled consecutively, ranging from killing a specific kind/amount of enemies to protecting special areas.

The game features 4 player co-op, which is clearly was the design focus. Some of the mission objectives require protecting multiple cheerleaders, which is very difficult (if not impossible on higher difficulties) to achieve alone.
