), but are randomly assigned to clubs. Not so random, however, is that Torquay United have a player called Gaylord. Justin Fashanu
, who (as of 2006) had recent became UK football's first openly gay professional player, played for Torquay at the time.
The game caused something of a surprise by topping the overall UK Amiga sales chart (which listed budget titles alongside full-price ones) in March 1992. As the year went on, many football management games were released, including the first Championship Manager
and Premier Manager
titles, and the genre was hugely popular again, which it's remained ever since.
