Commodore Format (Jun, 1991)
If you get off on wonderful graphics then this, like Shadow of the Beast is where to find 'em. However, what puzzles there are take a simple form and even the combat sequence are pretty basic. This aside, Beast fans will find this a natural progression, shows off will have fun wowing their friends with it, but sadly thinking gamesters could probably find better ways of spending such a big wad of dosh.
Zzap! (Jul, 1991)
Wrath of the Demon is graphically excellent throughout from the amazing ten-layer parallax to the beautifully drawn backdrops to the huge, well animated mega-monsters. Sound is also very good with moody tunes adding to the tense atmosphere. What's quite not so consistent in quality is the gameplay. The horse-riding level is fun and a promising introduction, but the single-screen combat scenes play rather simplistically - you have only a few combat moves - and can easily be completed.
Play Time (May, 1995)
Schon auf dem Amiga machte dieses Spiel eine gute Figur. Auf dem C 64 mußte zwar die Auflösung und die Farbenzahl leiden – aber nicht das Spiel. Der Schwierigkeitsgrad ist eher deftig, aber mit Übung zu bewältigen. Grafik und Sound sind für den kleinen Commodore recht gut gelungen. Nach vielen Stunden harter Arbeit am Joystick winkt als Belohnung die Hand der Prinzessin, was aber nicht viel nützen wird, da die eigenen Hände inzwischen Schwielen haben dürften. Wer wirklich gut mit dem Stick umgehen kann, sollte hier zugreifen.
Commodore Force (Aug, 1993)
Despite the game's obvious graphical excellence (enforced by decent inbetween-level screens), the playability veers on the sparse side - often. Control of the hero proves to be very unresponsive at times, it's especially tiresome on the single-screen fights, where timing is of the essence. Whether it'll fare well as far as lastability's concerned is questionable, but even with infinite continues, I doubt it, as battling the minions does require a sizeable amount of patience. My real criticism is that there's a multiload that's massive on disk alone - get yourself some strong cups of coffee if you're a cassette user. It's not all bad, bad, bad but if it played as well as it looked, it could earn the Hurricane Hit accolade. At the end of the day, there's just not enough of anything in particular.
64'er (Sep, 1993)
Das Outfit des Games macht einen guten Eindruck, obwohl einige Feinarbeiten an den Sprites gutgetan hätten. Die Sounds pegeln sich nur bei Standard ein. Insgesamt gesehen hat Ready-Soft ein Spiel zusammengebastelt, das durch die unterschiedlichen Szenarios mit viel Abwechslung glänzt. Leider werden nur absolute Könner bei dem Game warm und können die ferne Welt vom Joch des Zauberers und dem von ihm heraufbeschworenen Dämonen zu befreien.
