DescriptionCall of Duty: Strike Team is a mobile entry in the Call of Duty franchise and part of the Black Ops story arc. It is set in 2020 when there are tense relations between superpowers such as the U.S., Russia and China. Many of these tensions are caused by Cordis Die, a pseudo-terrorist organization that has a large following. The U.S. is attacked by surprise and in several objective based missions a Joint Special Operations Team is sent to locations all over the world to take revenge and find out who is reponsible.
This Campaign mode is similar to the main games in the series. It often focuses on the concept of strike teams that are sent in to retrieve intel, kill specific enemies or take control of a specific area. Different types of weapons are available. They can be customized in loadouts and many perks become available over time by earning experience. It is a commercial game, but some of these can also be unlocked right away by spending Tokens, a premium currency through in-app purchases. Token can also be spent on additional claymores, grenades and medikits that can be used during missions. Tokens can be earned through regular mission progression and by completing challenges as well.
The left side of the screen has a touch-and-drag area for movement, a button to call squad members and a crouch button for cover and stealth kills. The right side has the same concept for looking around and a button to shoot. There is a meter that can be tapped to reload and swipes are used to switch weapons. Yellow HUD markers keep track of objectives and the next target. There is also a strategy element to the game. At any moment it is possible to switch from third-person to a tactical bird's-eye view with free camera movement for the entire environment. It provides control of the squad for movement and attacks with a broader overview of the surroundings. Deployment markers can be drawn as lines to control specific movement patterns. While the game can be played in one of both modes or by switching, it also suits different playing styles. While in tactical mode all visible enemies are shown and simple commands can be issued such as attack, stealth, flanking with groups or retreating for a strategic approach. Soldiers can also help each other climb over obstacles.
Next to the main Campaign mode there is a Survival mode similar to the one in Call of Duty: MW3 defeating waves of enemies. Additional modes were released as updates over time, such as the Time Attack mode in November 2013 and the Domination mode in December of the same year. In Time Attack kills add time to a clock and Domination is about capturing and holding three strategic points on a map as long as possible.
