Championship Manager 2006

De CM-reeks heeft het momentum te pakken. Nog niet even goed als de recentste Football Manager, maar al wat dichter in de buurt.

I've never played a sports simulator. I've also never played or watched a soccer game in my life. Needless to say, Championship Manager 2006 seemed a little daunting for the first day or two of playing. Once I got going, however, I found the game to be quite entertaining and very challenging. The only things that truly turned me off to the game were the frequent crashes. If you play a month of gametime, you're almost guaranteed to crash at least once. If you remember to save it won't be a problem. If you don't, the crashes will make you tear your hair out.

After the split between mega publisher Eidos and the developers of the Championship Manager series for over a decade, fans of the series had a difficult choice to make. Either they could stick with the continuation of the same game engine that had enthralled fans and ruined relationships for a large portion of their lifetimes, or they could stick with the brand name that Eidos lumped on the shoulders of the aptly named Beautiful Game Studios.

Comme Fifa, chaque année, L’Entraîneur revient, près à animer nos nuits de joueurs invétérés. Comme Fifa, le jeu édité par Eidos mène une lutte sans merci à son plus sérieux concurrent, Football Manager, en espérant bien le détrôner un jour. Pas facile cependant quand on sait que les petits gars de Sports Interactive, le studio à l'origine de Football Manager, ont plus de 10 ans d'expérience derrière eux... contre moins de deux pour les angalis de Beautiful Game Studios. Est-ce que cette édition 2006 mettra fin à ses envies de grandeur, ou bien au contraire fera office de promesse d’avenir ? A vous de juger…
