Jericho suffers from some bad AI at times but careful management of your squad in combat can avoid most of this (unless the AI decides to ignore you) - it's a viscereal game that's not scary. It has unique powers and several excellent gameplay mechanics.

In closing out Jericho has blown me away… I have loved the time I have spent playing it and pretty much could not leave it alone until I had finished it. Sure, the ending annoyed me, but hey ho I am nitpicking on a game that was great fun to play and at the time of writing a game I am now in the middle of replaying. You might want to consider this as a rental rather than a purchase – but without any doubt, my recommendation is that you need to play this game!

In the end, Clive Barker's Jericho does exactly what it seems to set out to do. It provides gamers with a creepy, action-packed experience with a solid plot and unique designs. It can be creepy and scary, at times. At others, it's also repetitive and predictable title. I guess I would recommend it to all Clive Barker fans.

WindowsYet Another Review Site (YARS)
To conclude, Clive Barker's Jericho is an amazing game but it lacks the space a player needs in levels and being a FPS game this has a massive effect on how the game is played It requires the player to be cautious of their surroundings, knowing where obstacles are and where they can run. Sometimes it can be misleading to see a path leading somewhere but not actually being able to walk that way and then getting slaughtered from behind by the enemies you were hoping to evade for a short while. The audio and visual quality is the best I've witnessed in a game for a while now and it adds to the horror genre, which makes up for some elements which let it down. Other than the few problems, I seriously enjoyed this game and I enjoyed leaving the path of blood and guts behind me as I progressed through the game.

Clive Barker's Jericho brings plenty of gruesome horror moments wrapped in a compelling story. A handful of annoying gameplay issues holds it back, but it's worth playing just to see the imaginative and gruesome monsters.

While there are some problems with the game, I think the good outweigh the bad in this scenario. Jericho offers standard FPS fare in a Strogg thrilling atmosphere with some cool soldiers and a nice camera view. Still, the game suffers from some poorly implemented tactics which work against the game, along with a completely useless gameplay mechanic. It would be good for a rent or a low-budget pick up, but it's hard to justify paying full price for this game when there are many better titles out there.

Ultimately, Jericho is action packed, gory and violent, which are key ingredients of the survival horror genre. But it’s also the kind of interactive, cinematic marvel that modern gaming systems should be delivering. The awe-inspiring torment of Clive Barker’s Jericho is a benchmark in modern entertainment, blending the opposites of game and cinema as only the master of horror knows how.

Clive Barker's Jericho is certainly not the best shooter of the year but it does have its strongpoints. The 10 hour lasting storyline drags you along despite the tasteless combat; the switching between characters is quite fun and original, and the design of the enemy monsters is really morbid. A fine game to rent, especially due to the lack of a multiplayer mode.

Though Jericho is no Undying, the game does have its moments. I guess I would recommend it to Clive Barker fans. Bear in mind that there are obvious drawbacks to it, too. If you can live with the abovementioned issues (mostly concerning the tedious elements in the level design and its appearance), you will find stuff that you can like in this one.

Ultimately, considering the overwhelming strength of recent FPS arrivals, Clive Barker's Jericho is likely to sink into the gaming Abyss with God's diabolical Firstborn... never to be seen again.

Xbox 360PlayDevil
In conclusion, "Clive Barker's Jericho" could be better. A totally random level of difficulty, some highly frustrating moments, and a lack of multiplayer would drive most games into insignificance. But an innovative story, good use of horror, and some outstanding moments mean that Jericho is certainly worth a playthrough. It is one of the most unusual gaming experiences of 2007, and while there are far better games out there, if you crave a horror game, then Jericho is not a bad option at all. It has some flaws, but if you can get past the frustrations, then Jericho provides an entertaining experience.

There's little in Clive Barker's Jericho to support the namesake author's argument that games are an art form of the same caliber as cinema. Ironically, the story is better-suited to a summer Hollywood horror flick, and it falls flat as a premise for driving action in a video game. With a number of great releases on the horizon, there's no reason to let this aberration anywhere near your hard drive. For those keeping score, it's Roger Ebert: 1; Clive Barker: 0.

Aside from the lack of difficulty, the non functional squad commands, the unnecessary Dragon Quest action, and the painfully slow text on the load screens, the game wasn’t that bad. It had a decent storyline, and having Spike from Bebop voice the protagonist really made me like the character. The game had potential to be very good and very scary; however, it failed to achieve either one. It was all right, and a little scary, but I just felt like it was too easy.

The script is about as good as an old WB show, but that's actually what I started to like about it. Maybe we can get a sequel because I think there are some cool shooter ideas hidden under bigger mistakes.

That Jericho ended up such a mundane experience is a shame not only due to the involvement of Clive Barker, but especially in light of several FPS games that innovate successfully within the well-trodden genre released around the same time. The game combines a tired formula of spawning wave after wave of mindless enemies in the same room with you with the clumsily-executed 'squad-based' combat, which is enough to stave off any fan of the genre aside from stout Barker fans in it for the intriguing but sadly unrealised plot. That said, the game may still please those after a mindless shooter with excessive gore and more than just the standard real-world arsenal of weapons to unleash hell with, to whom, ironically, the Clive Barker name may not mean all that much.

Clive Barker’s Jericho tries to separate itself from the mix with its character swamping feature, however the traditional aspects of the gameplay makes me think it’s closer to Doom then Bioshock. Filled with a lot more dialog, Jericho can get a little drawn out until you start pumping lead into some flesh eating creature. Jericho is clever enough for a good time with a FPS, however as anything else Jericho should trade in this blood gushing festival of carnage for jelly donuts.

Jericho is both a triumph and a disaster, and not a lot of games manage to be both of these at once. Frustrating, exciting, inconsistent, linear--these words and many more describe the various elements of Clive Barker's Jericho. If you've got a high tolerance for gameplay annoyances and like the feeling of imposing dread and claustrophobia this corridor crawl provides, by all means, give it a shot. If you like tight shooting mechanics and smart level design, you'll want to steer clear.

Xbox 360Console Monster
Overall, Jericho is a game that really did have potential. It has a decent plot, and the whole squad system is involving and innovative. Unfortunately the game has both come out at the wrong time, presumably due to the marketing department at Codemasters wanting to exploit the Halloween season. If the developers had given this game another six to eight months in development, the game could have been a solid shooter; unfortunately it ends up just being an average one.

If broken gameplay mechanics and community college acting didn't weigh down the game, it might actually be worthwhile. Each environment features a macabre twist on a historical period and they rival Painkiller in their haunting heavy metal video backdrop appearance. Unfortunately, the creepy locales and ultraviolent action don't translate into a frightening experience. And isn't that where Clive Barker is supposed to shine?

Clive Barker's Jericho is something of an oddity. On one hand it's a near-broken video game, packed full of so many gaming no-nos that it ought never to be spoken about again, but on the other it's original, atmospheric and sickeningly good fun. Many people will understandably lose interest after a few hours, but the game's many problems hide a game that deserves to be played through to completion.

I love Clive Barker. I like Codemasters. What on earth happened to result in this game being so painfully average??? In fact, it's probably worse than average with the current high quality games available on the PC and 360. Not even for hardened horror fans, like myself.

Clive Barker’s Jericho isn’t a bad game. It’s tried something new with the squad-based combat system with a twist and put it in a really good setting. It’s just a shame the combat, AI and level design ruin any atmosphere the game manages to create, and the innovations don’t work the way they should.

Still, for fans of Clive Barker, Jericho could provide some degree of entertainment, and as we stated at the beginning of this review, it's not totally devoid of rewards. At the same time, it's difficult to recommend a game with so many lackluster elements in a world full of Gears of Wars and BioShocks (both of which managed to be scarier than Jericho).

Jericho doesn't really bring anything new to the gaming world. It does blend the gory horrific mind of Clive Barker and a shooter game. Just in time for Halloween, this will be a game to remember and help fill your night with the required amounts of gore On the other hand, if you are looking for a horror game with a deep gameplay experience, this is probably not the next must buy game.

After last E3, we had some pretty high hopes for Jericho, but after playing through the game on its most difficult setting, we realize that we may have set our expectations for this one a bit too high. There's no question that the game's premise promised the kind of horror-packed experience Clive Barker has been known for... we just didn't realize that it would end up being shackled with slipshod game design and the sort of rambling gore-for-gore's-sake plot that Clive Barker's become known for. It's not that Jericho is bad, it's just not very good, and when you have so many triple-A titles looking to devour your dollars you simply don't have time or money to waste on anything this blatantly mediocre.

Clive Barker's Jericho does a few things well and a lot of things poorly. In no way can it compare to the other awesome FPSs available now (Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, for example), and when you spend more time healing than fighting, there's something seriously wrong. There's noticeable Barker flair, but it's lost amidst the depressing shuffle of inconsistent and generally useless features, crappy AI on both sides, and some of the most repetitive and linear gameplay we've ever seen. The different abilities add much-needed appeal and the style is appropriate, but that's about where the good ends. The campaign is short with zero reason to play again, and the story is semi-interesting at first but never really seems to get going. The rest is just one heaping pile of "meh."

Upon first entering the game world, you'll probably want to like this game. The visuals can be pretty good, particularly some of the enemy designs and larger indoor environments (the sprawling coliseum battle springs to mind). Voice work tends to be rather forced, and not in the campy sort of way. And while environmental sounds held up thanks to some well produced ambient tracks, the visuals and audio never coalesced to form any real sense of atmosphere. They don't distract you from the game's simplistic underlying structure. Instead of getting caught up in the struggle against a demonic force that threatens the continued existence of your race, you're left with tacked-on squad elements, poor friendly and enemy AI, repetitive encounters, and unabashedly linear levels. Jericho has a few memorable moments, but they're not worth the cash.

Clive Barker's Jericho is rife with fantastic ideas that are poorly executed. Worse than that, it's a great story with likeable characters attached to a mediocre first-person shooter. This goes to show that a game needs to do more than tell a good story. I think a great many of us enjoy gaming for its interactive elements. I don't know about any of you, but it wasn't a human story that got me through Super C or kept me playing Doom. Don't get me wrong; I won't dog effective storytelling in video games. It's just that interactive elements should be the primary concern of a project. Narrative can still play a pivotal role, but I tend to find a game's mechanics and interactive concepts are much more important.

PlayStation 3Video Game Talk
Clive Barker's Jericho should have been better than it turned out to be. All of the pieces were there to make a successful and compelling first-person shooter but somewhere along the line it fell apart. It's quite glaring exactly what components work for this title and what ones don't so in the end I suppose it was just a matter of developmental time. Whatever the case with other FPS titles on the PS3 like Resistance: Fall of Man and Call of Duty 4, Jericho just kind of sneaks onto store shelves. If you're looking for a twist on the genre it's worth a rental but it by no means pushes the idea of the FPS (or horror for that matter) into new directions.
50
Xbox 360Kombo.com
Clive Barker's Jericho is a mish-mash of great concepts and stupid design choices. Every one of the game's strengths is undercut by a glaring weakness: the overarching narrative is sabotaged by campy writing, the squad mechanics are rendered irrelevant by poor AI. During a slower time of year, Jericho might have been worth a rental for fans of the horror genre, but during a holiday season packed with top-tier first-person shooters, gamers are better off spending their valuable time with better games.

Even with Clive Barker’s Jericho now retailing at a cheap as chips price point, it is difficult to recommend this first person release. There are moments from Barker and touches of visual flair, enhanced by a marvellous soundtrack. Yet where Gamestyle asks, did the actually gaming experience end up?
