Description

Crowther and Woods' trailblazing treasure-hunting cave-exploring text game ADVENTURE has here been simplified and streamlined into a mouse-navigable form (click on hypertext or direction icons to change location) suitable for early web browsers. Inventory management has gone out the window, with magic words only usable at particular locations... and a very small degree of randomization retained. All the same, many of the classic characters and locations have been retained verbatim (the "maze of twisty little passages, all alike" among them).

Development

This conversion was made in the early days of the World Wide Web, prior to the advent of Google and the rise of text adventure scholarship, as a result of which the author, an old unix guru of no small repute, came by his source material "unearthed from an old RSX-11 8" floppy disk" from the mainframe days.
