Но NovaLogic все же старается: третий "Команч" превосходит своих предшественников по всем показателям. В первую очередь это относится к графике, но, как отмечалось, не забыто и все остальное -- и звук, и сюжет, и реалистичность. Отдельные недостатки выглядят абсолютно ничтожными на общем фоне. Таким образом, продукт, который и в первых своих воплощениях был суперхитом, стал еще совершеннее. Нет необходимости гадать, какая судьба его ожидает.

This is the third version of Novalogic's popular combat helicopter simulator, Comanche. Along with excellent graphics and sound come an attention to detail that rivets the player to the seat. Comanche is the kind of simulator that will have you calling it all kinds of derogatory names, but will always be ready for you when you have swallowed your pride and want to give it another shot. It is by no means an easy combat simulator, but like anything worthwhile, the patience and perseverance is worth the satisfaction of completing a mission. There is much to be learned about the manner in which rotary aircraft fly, and this simulator will provide you with a good understanding of what skill and coordination is required to "Make it go". For those of you who like a challenge and have had some simulator experience, pluck up your courage and use the advanced flight model right away.

Aangezien de echte helikoptersim liefhebbers niet vaak in de watten gelegd worden, kan ik hen Commanche 3 ten zeerste aanbevelen. Ook voor alle andere brokkenpiloten die sowieso al eens een helikoptersim wouden proberen, is Commanche 3 een uitstekend begin.

Hot on the texture-mapped heels of its impressive jet simulation, F-22 Lightning III, NovaLogic's new chopper game Comanche 3 marks the second outing for the company's Voxel Space 2 terrain rendering system. While the original Voxel 3D engine fractal technology, used in Comanche: Maximum Overkill and the tank sim Armoured Fist, was blocky, indistinct and downright ugly, VS2 is smoother, clearer and twice as fast. Playable in SVGA graphics modes up to 800x600 and providing support for high-tech white elephants such as the VFX1 VR helmet and stereoscopic 3D glasses, NovaLogic’s simulation of the RAH-66 Comanche attack helicopter is - graphically, at least - cutting-edge software.

Comanche 3 is a real disappointment. As a game, it’s nearly unplayable, and as a helicopter simulator, it’s not even worth a second look. Somewhere along the way the VoxelSpace 2 graphics, which aren’t that impressive anyway, took precedence over playability and speed. I was really looking forward to this game, and I can’t fully express my disappointment. The game has great production values, and with all the work put into it, you’d think it would have been a hit. I don’t know what happened, but this game is a failure on so many levels I can’t even list them all. As a helicopter simulator, Comanche 3 doesn’t even get off the ground.
