COMMAND & CONQUER: RED ALERT
FOLLOW-UP TO NUMBER ONE SELLING REAL-TIME STRATEGY GAME
COMMAND & CONQUER: RED ALERT is the ultimate in real-time strategy games, taking players one step beyond the original. Featuring the most-advanced artificial intelligence in games today, COMMAND & CONQUER: RED ALERT creates a computer opponent that is more cunning than ever before. The player has additional power as well, with opportunities for more involved strategies and tactics, utilizing an all new arsenal of units and structures. And if they're bold enough, they can even take on more enemies with the new Internet head-to-head play, available when using the Windows 95 version.
In the newest addition to the COMMAND & CONQUER franchise, Hitler never came to power. Instead, it is Stalin whose maniacal quest for power must be stopped as his ruthless troops march across Europe. Players can command either the Allied forces, as they struggle to end Stalin's unprecedented reign of terror, or explore their dark side and align with Stalin and his Soviet forces as they crush weaker foes.
Key features for COMMAND & CONQUER: RED ALERT are:
High Resolution Graphics -- Red Alert is actually two games in one. A native Windows 95 version with 640x480 resolution and a DOS game version with 320x200 resolution.
New Units & Structures -- Over 30 new game elements including thieves, medics, attack dogs, spies, land mines, tesla coils, destroyers, cruisers, MIGs, paratroopers and submarines...to name a few. Gamers can only guess at what the chronosphere and gap generators do.
Improved unit control -- Complete control over air, land, and sea. Formations control and waypoint plotting for those who want units to get to their destination in a certain way.
Enhanced AI -- The computer is smarter than ever. Base construction and management are the smallest of the enhancements. New options also allow the player to set game difficulty.
Built-in Head-To-Head Internet Support -- With fully integrated Internet support gamers can easily challenge opponents next door or halfway across the world.
Expanded Multiplay -- Now challenge up to 6 players in IPX LAN mode. A new chat interface allows for longer messages and more information to be displayed.
Skirmish Mode -- Want a little practice? Now gamers can take on one to five computers opponents simultaneously.
Bigger Maps -- Red Alert's maps are twice as huge as it's ground breaking predecessor.
Terrain Editor -- Gamers can build their own multiplayer maps and trade them with friends.

"Westwood Studios continues to improve upon the great work it has already done," said Rand Bleimester, senior vice president of sales and marketing. "Command & Conquer is definitely one of the strongest franchises this industry has seen in years."

The sequel to Command & Conquer, Red Alert literally rips up the history books, telling the story of a World War II in which the Soviet Empire, not Hitler's Nazis, threaten the peace of the free world.
