The Conduit is a flawed masterpiece: it doesn’t quite live up to the nigh-unreachable hype built up around it, but by breaking so much ground on the Wii it does something more important than meet the hype. The myriad goals Conduit accomplishes make it much more than the sum of its parts, and ultimately that allows me to excuse its faults as first-time jitters. A solid solo campaign, pioneering graphics and unparalleled multiplayer on the Wii make it a must-have for hardcore and casual Wii owners alike.

It's a game only for the Wii, from an independent developer; The Conduit is not a photorealistic HD console offering from a mega-developer supported by 17 subsidiary technical studios. This is a great game for the Wii, and merely for the fact High Voltage has forever nullified any self-serving acquittals developers may concoct for hobbled visuals, sloppy controls and pitiful online multiplayer in their Wii games, The Conduit deserves great recognition. Going out on a limb, but a thick limb, The Conduit is an FPS that will stand well among lots of contemporary shooters, but the game is by far the most fully realized, expertly designed experience of its type available on the Wii.

WiiIGN
While the game does not turn the genre upside-down, it is innovative in certain areas -- for example, it features the most customizable, precise and enjoyable controls of any console shooter created, hands down. Meanwhile, the technology powering the experience is leaps and bounds ahead of most third- party offerings for Nintendo's system. Combined, you've got a game that controls flawlessly and looks great. If you're okay with a few presentational cliches -- a story involving aliens that seems played out -- and a shooting experience that rarely strays from straightforward running and gunning, you're probably going to love the end product. If, on the other hand, you own another system, nothing The Conduit offers, fantastic controls aside, will seem extraordinary. Supposing you are a single console owner, though, High Voltage's shooter not only delivers a fun single-player quest, but an engaging online mode that will keep you fragging complete with WiiSpeak support for months to come.

WiiGameFocus
While the single player may come off as generic to some, the story is interesting enough to be worth a look for anyone with even a passing interest in the sci-fi shooter genre. Still, it’s the multiplayer that really stands out as the best on the Wii.

WiiNintendoWorldReport
This is the paradox of The Conduit. Its disappointing single-player component seems hastily-designed with its cookie-cutter plot, limited range of enemies, and myriad elements copied wholesale from popular recent first-person shooters. On the other hand, its multiplayer component is great, matching online shooters on other platforms feature-for-feature and providing a no-hassle experience that's among the best on Wii. Hopefully High Voltage will learn from The Conduit's shortcomings for their next game, but for now, Wii owners will have to settle for something very good instead of truly great.

WiiNintendojo
Taken as a whole, The Conduit is a solid effort on Wii, although it is more of a jack of all trades than a master of one. Its single player storyline is solid but is not as long or deep as Metroid Prime 3. Its multiplayer mode is good but not as robust or reliable as Medal of Honor Heroes 2 or Call of Duty: World at War. What’s more, the game suffers from a couple of online technical hiccups that other Wii shooters do not have. Those liabilities notwithstanding, The Conduit is a solid shooter that offers a welcome break from the well-worn World War II trail and looks great doing it. Kudos to High Voltage Software for a good first retail effort. Hopefully this marks the start of a franchise.

If you own a Wii and are in need of a fun first person shooter, this is it. Nevermind the standard story mode; multiplayer is where it’s at. I really do hope that Sega gives it another shot in the form of a sequel to possibly improve the single player, but until then grab your Wii remotes and jump online!

The Conduit is an interesting shooter for the Nintendo Wii console that although doesn't offer too much in terms of "new" gameplay, it sticks to the safe road, creating an apt game. Graphically, it offers some impressive technology feats on the Wii that is matched with an equally impressive gaming interface but unfortunately the repetitive level design may find some gamers getting a little tiresome, however if you're after a medium to good shooter, than The Conduit may be for you.

Wii3D Juegos

WiiVandal Online

WiiIGN Australia
Don’t get us wrong, HVS should be commended for The Conduit. It stands almost alone on a console notoriously wary of ‘adult’ or ‘darker’ games, and as FPS titles on the Wii go, it is without peer. But it is by no means perfect. It’s derivative. It’s bland. In the grand scheme of first-person shooters it is decidedly average. That said, we found it helpful to think of this as a first-rate tech demo with a fun multiplayer component. It’s a good stop gap to fill the FPS void until The Conduit 2. It’s the beginning of the new wave – a taste of things to come, rather than an all-conquering title in its own right.

WiiCheat Code Central
There are definitely some good things happening in The Conduit that many third-party developers could learn from, but there is certainly still room for improvement here. With its inconsistent visuals, reliance on disorienting waggles for some abilities, cliché storyline, and the linear and often frustrating design of the single-player experience in this game likely won’t pull many multiple console owners away from their plethora of readily available FPSs. However, if you only own a Wii, this game does provide sporadically impressive visuals, one of the best online experiences on the console, perhaps the best/most customizable controls of any Wii FPS, and a reason to blow the dust off of your system for awhile. So, while The Conduit doesn’t end up being the Wii’s Halo 3 or Killzone 2, it is a pretty good game that will likely be very appreciated by anyone who only owns a Wii and has been anxiously awaiting another FPS that’s worthy of investing some time into.
78
WiiGameTrailers
The Conduit deserves credit for getting the most important stuff right. In spite of the disappointing single-player campaign, it delivers as a shooter on the strength of its multiplayer component. The Wii finally has a competitive FPS worthy of spending time with. All it needs now are some willing fighters to help it thrive.

WiiGamervision
The Conduit isn't the Wii's Halo no matter how much Nintendo fans want it to be. It's more in line with Killzone 2 for the PlayStation 3, but not in the way of quality. Just as was the case with Killzone 2, The Conduit shows exactly what is possible on the system. The difference is, in the case with the Wii, the answer isn't that much. Regardless, it's a solid experience, and one that every Wii owner should support. Unless everyone is completely content with minigame compilations and PS2 ports, in which case go ahead and skip it. It's fine, I hear there's another remake on the way, go pre-order that.

High Voltage did a great job pushing their technology on the Wii making The Conduit a stand out title. The extra visual flair, Hollywood supported voice-cast and online multiplayer easily keeps The Conduit above its competition on the Wii. However rating The Conduit against the top shooters in the gaming industry would be meet with less praise. Even though the Conduit is pushing up our expectations for title on the Wii, The Conduit is as straight-forward as they come. Besides a few minor snip-its, little has been done to innovate the title past the Wii-based controls. That being said, if you only own a Wii then you will want to snag this one up right away. However if you’re a multi-console owners you might want to give the Conduit a rental first because there are ton of options out there. Either way you look at it, The Conduit is an important title and one of the best shooters for the system, it's definitely worth a weekend of blasting drones away.

WiiOfficial Nintendo Magazine
However, the online mode doesn't do enough to make The Conduit and essential Wii game. The reason The Conduit falls short of must-have status is down to the repetition on offer in terms of influences and design decisions. Levels often become a chore, especially the ones set in dull grey military facilities, while the Drudge aliens are aptly named. For all its lack of inspiration, The Conduit is still an enjoyable shooter. Just don't expect miracles.

WiiVideo Game Generation
All in all, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by The Conduit and most of what it has to offer, save for a few rough edges and banalities that could have been easily avoided. If you're looking for some great (albeit generic) FPS action on a Nintendo console, The Conduit is a great choice. We can only hope that future FPS titles for the system adopt the superb controls and tightness that are lacking in most of the other games in the Wii's library.

WiiGaming Age
I definitely think Conduit's worth checking out if you're a Wii owner, it's easily the best FPS on the system, and the multiplayer is handled quite well. I'm a bit hesitant to suggest it if you're only going to play the campaign, as I don't think it's particularly strong or interesting, but even then it's worth a rental. However, if you plan on going online with the game at all, I'd suggest it as a blind buy, and it's certainly a lot of fun with a group of people to play with. The controls work well, and there's no reason you can't make the customization work for you in any case. Visually the game looks pretty solid, with some interesting weapon design to boot, so I can't find much to complain about there. Definitely check out the Conduit if you get a chance, and hopefully you'll enjoy it as much as I did.

WiiMeristation

High Voltage hopefully learned some lessons during The Conduit’s development, they obviously learned from the mistakes and strengths of the likes of Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 and Metroid Prime, because the basic groundwork has been laid for an even better sequel.

WiiGame Over Online
The Conduit is a noble experiment. It's a great engine, and I look forward to future games that use it. The multiplayer, glitchy though it may be, is the real reason to pick it up, and it's fun enough to justify the purchase. The game itself is kind of tacked onto the engine as an afterthought, though. The word I keep coming back to is "generic," and that's just never a good thing to say about much of anything.

WiiMultiplayer.it

WiiGamers' Temple, The
The Conduit probably isn't going to be historically remembered as one of the games that saved the Wii from mini game mediocrity. It can be fun (I guess) if you are able to find a control scheme/sensitivity that works for you, but if you're like me and can't, you'll be stuck with a game you can't play and really can't enjoy. I admire all the work that went into this one, but it just can't live up to the hype.

WiiThat Gaming Site
The Conduit isn't the AAA experience we'd all hoped for but it is worth a shot if you're dying for well-controlled shooter and a must if you're looking for a good multiplayer game.
70
WiiGamePro (US)
To be blunt, The Conduit is a by the numbers shooter that offers a couple of thrills but ultimately doesn't make much of an impact. If your system of choice is the Wii then I suggest you check it out, as action games are few and far between on the platform and The Conduit does have its positives; anyone who loved Goldeneye will want to give a look as well if only to get a nice dose of nostalgia. But the rest of you shouldn't feel a need to abandon your favorite next-gen shooter for this one.
70
WiiGameSpy
Wii owners have been waiting a while for a top-notch FPS to call their own, and although the single-player mode has its faults, The Conduit's multiplayer experience helps to lessen the pain. Hopefully, other companies follow Sega and High Voltage's lead. Who knows? Maybe one day the Wii will have as many quality first-person shooters as it does Petz games.
70
WiiDaily Game
The Conduit seems to embody this tangent: close by no cigar. The Conduit is decent, but I wouldn't pay $50 for it; maybe $30. Between cheap enemies and not enough polish, The Conduit just falls short. If only a game like this had a budget to match an Xbox 360 or PS3 game.
70
WiiAtomic Gamer
The Conduit offers a competently-executed single player campaign and a variety of significantly more entertaining 12-player online multi-player modes which clearly demonstrate where the game's strengths and weaknesses lie. Ultimately, the game is a solid but flawed first attempt from High Voltage Software at a first person shooter on the Wii.

WiiInsideGamer
Want ja, wat is The Conduit nou eigenlijk?

WiiIGN UK
It's The Conduit’s beautifully tactile control set-up that proves to be the star of the show here. Take it away and you’re left with a single-player game that’s consistently bland but, more damningly, consistently boring. Thankfully, although still blighted by many of the solo campaign’s inadequacies, the sheer wealth of options and ease of access to human combatants in multiplayer mode manages to shirk the game’s blanket of mediocrity and raise it to a standard that, while perhaps not actually excellent, is certainly rewarding and frequently fun. In that respect, what you get out of the game depends entirely on where your preferences lie. It’s true that the dearth of first-person shooters on Nintendo’s system might be justification enough to give High Voltage’s creation a whirl but, sadly, The Conduit only offers quality FPS entertainment in sporadic bursts - if your gaming quotient comes from more than just the one console, then you’re probably best looking elsewhere.
70
WiiGamestyle
The Conduit has the best controls of any First Person Shooter on the Wii by far. It would be unfair to say that this is not supported by a decent single-player campaign or online multiplayer, but The Conduit is certainly lacking in these areas. It is great fun to play, however, and whilst it may lack any real longevity, the time spent eliminating the Drudge or fragging your friends is a blast. We're not sure about The Conduit being the definitive First Person Shooter on the Wii, but if this is a taste of things to come from High Voltage and their Quantum3 Engine, Gamestyle is hungry for more.
70
WiiGameplanet
At the end of the day, The Conduit is a triumph in technical achievement in terms of nailing down a brilliant interactive FPS control system – and is well worth playing to experience that alone – but without any substance to back it up, the whole experience is a bit, for want of a better term…”meh”. However, mark this game down as the title that proved FPS games on the Wii are no longer something to be sneered at.
70
WiiNintendo Life
Overall, The Conduit delivers a solid FPS experience for Wii owners. You've got a nice single-player story mode, a solid online mode and a bunch of unlockables to keep you playing for a while. Coupled with the few annoying flaws, such as the repeating rooms and everything related to the All-Seeing Eye, it's a fairly solid game. There's really nothing about it that really stands out other than the fact it's on the Wii though. If you've only got a Wii, the game's worth a purchase, but if you're a multi-platform owner you can definitely do better in terms of FPS games.
70
WiiDestructoid
The Conduit, and it's potential success or failure, shouldn't be used as a gauge for how well "awesome hardcore" games sell on the Wii, mostly because the game isn't all that hardcore, or even that awesome. In terms of graphics, level design, and even story, the game isn't in the same league as comparable titles like the Metroid Prime series,or Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition. If The Conduit does sell well, it wont mean that hardcore games do or don't sell on the Wii. All that will tell us is that a substantial amount of FPS-friendly Wii owners are willing to look past some game design mediocrity in order to play a fully featured online shooter that has very good controls and very shiny aliens. You can count me amongst them.
70
WiiNZGamer
Again, The Conduit has definitely been received with mixed reviews. Personally I believe this is because the game is being compared to other first-person shooters across all consoles. As far as the Nintendo Wii goes, this game does a very admirable job. It possibly doesn’t beat the likes of Metroid Prime – but it does set itself up for a sequel that could potentially push the bars a lot higher.
70
WiiCubed3
Near-perfect first person shooter controls, and solid online play make a game worth considering - especially if you're in need of shooting loving on the Wii. With improved level design and variety, The Conduit does have potential to become a fully-blown series. A strong first effort from High Voltage, showing that first person shooters can work on the Wii. All that's needed really is more care and variety in the gameplay itself.

The Conduit is like a dwarf glamour model - irresistible despite its shortness. Buy it, enjoy it, then take it online. You'll love every minute until it ends. More please?

65
WiiPAL Gaming Network (PALGN)
At the end of the day, High Voltage Software only half-met their promise at defining the FPS genre for the Wii. The developer nailed the control scheme by giving players the ability to change button mappings and the sensitivity of the Wii remote. Sadly, when it came down to gameplay, The Conduit is nothing but an average run and gun shooter with a few cheap gimmicks that try to make it look like more than it really is. The online multiplayer modes are a nice touch, but if you already regularly play online shooters on other systems, it will seem rather redundant.
65
WiiGameSpot
Wasted potential is the main theme for The Conduit because its technical prowess is overshadowed by misguided design decisions pasted onto a generic science fiction universe. The excellent control scheme is able to save this otherwise average adventure for a little while, but the many missteps of the campaign become suffocating before too long. The multiplayer, too, is entertaining for a few hours, but the seven maps are too simple and predictable to provide a consistently thrilling experience. The Conduit may provide a glimpse at the future of Wii shooters, but it's still largely mired in the well-worn past.

Wii4Players.de

The Tegra HD sheen adds some graphical polish to this Wii-port that’s fun to blast through, especially with a controller, but still a lacklustre Halo-wannabe at heart
60
Wiivideogamer.com
For all the developer's boasts, The Conduit is nothing more than an occasionally attractive run of the mill FPS, backed up by a decent multiplayer mode that stands out due to the relative weakness the Wii has in this area. Wii owners looking for a pure FPS will likely plough through the campaign and spend enough time with the multiplayer to make their purchase worthwhile, but anyone who games across all major platforms will wonder why anyone made a fuss about The Conduit in the first place.

WiiPlay.tm
According to the rear cover of The Conduit's packaging, the game won an IGN E3 Award in 2008, and was lauded as the "BEST SHOOTING GAME ON THE Wii," by the prominent online videogame magazine. However, taken in context, E3 2008 was more than a year ago, when The Conduit was far from finished. It's now the end product that's being evaluated, not an ongoing preview build, and, as such, The Conduit is far from the best shooting game on the Wii. That honour, for better or worse, still belongs to Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Superb controls aside, when properly assessed by the FPS genre's merciless yardstick of quality, The Conduit echoes the same linear design disappointments as Resistance: Fall of Man and finds itself languishing uncomfortably close to Turning Point: Fall of Liberty in terms of dour quality.
60
WiiAceGamez
If you expected The Conduit to be the Wii's Halo 3 or Gear of War 2, then prepare for a major disappointment. As a Wii game it's way beyond every other FPS on the system (other than Metroid ) in terms of controls and graphical fidelity, but when compared to the full breadth of the FPS genre, Conduit is more akin to TimeShift and Haze. It has little visual style and the sumptuous graphics are wasted on tired, uninspired design. "Generic" is probably the best word to describe The Conduit in single player, although it at least proves that you can pull off true online multiplayer experiences on Wii, even if some elements could have been improved. Next time around, whether that comes from High Voltage Software or another developer, if all of these elements come together with some well thought out design and fresh ideas, we could have something very special. For now though, The Conduit falls far short of the near perfection that the hardcore community were hoping for.

WiiEurogamer.it

WiiDarkZero
At the end of the day, despite its flaws, The Conduit is undoubtedly the best Wii-exclusive First-Person Shooter, it’s just a shame that particular accolade doesn’t mean much. Graphical prowess is no substitute for great art design, great controls are no substitute for fantastic gameplay, and when it comes to First-Person Shooters, the Wii is just no match for other consoles.

WiiGame Revolution
Regardless, it’s hard to imagine that a fan of the FPS genre hasn’t long since moved beyond the Wii, but for those few holdouts, The Conduit’s the game you’ve probably been waiting for. They say that hunger is the best sauce, so Wii owners who’ve been hungry for an FPS will probably overlook many of The Conduit’s faults. While you won’t make your 360 or PS3-owning friends jealous, you’ll have one fewer reason to feel envious of them.

WiiThe A.V. Club
Not that The Conduit deserves dismissal. It’s a solid shooter experience, complete with a satisfying array of conventional and alien weapons, and a great control scheme. Still, it comes with a qualifier: “Only on the Wii!”

Online may come off a little crude by modern standards, but its raw, run-and-shoot action taps a nostalgic sense from back in the early days of playing PC shooters online. In the heat of this action, The Conduit comes closest to realizing its aspirations to become the first epic shooter for the Wii. By comparison, the best moments in single-player only highlight the missed potential for The Conduit to be more than the rather ordinary game it turned out to be.

On any other platform, The Conduit would sink without trace - if we'd ever heard of it in the first place. High Voltage deserves credit for its technology, for its commitment to multiplayer, and for tuning a perfect set of FPS controls on a console that was begging for them. Its efforts shame everyone but Metroid developer Retro who's gone before, and certainly do prove that you can do a great FPS on the Wii. It's just that The Conduit - slender, derivative, mechanical and uninspired - isn't it.

The Conduit is a courageous effort at a next-generation FPS on a console that’s technologically underpowered. The game may very well be a dream come true for those who only own a Wii. However, there are better games to be played on the console, and much better FPSs to be played on other platforms. To quote Rob Schneider, “You Con-duit!,” but you shouldn’t.

Nintendo is claiming that The Conduit might attract Halo fans to its console, but this game isn’t fit to wait Master Chief’s table. It is, however, a good argument for the abandonment of that pernicious and so often misleading label, ‘hardcore’. ‘Danger! High Voltage Software’ shouts the developer’s logo. On this evidence, it’s a warning that should be taken seriously.

It's easily the most comprehensive third party effort on the Wii and you can even use WiiSpeak to chat online. However, even against human players the game still fails to fully engage, thanks to the still poor level design and the unremarkable sci-fi weaponry. The online lag doesn't help either, but that may be more Nintendo's fault for not investing in the infrastructure. There are no excuses for the rest of the game though, which despite the intent is only likely to discourage other Western developers even more.

If you're just comparing it to other action games released on the Wii, The Conduit does some interesting things with its control and with its multiplayer modes. But other aspects, like the poor story, bland design, and awful voice acting, would be just as bad on any platform. It's that stuff that drags The Conduit down into an area where it's tough to recommend without providing a boatload of caveats.

Which ultimately, is The Conduit’s biggest problem: it seems set with doing the bare minimum (a lot of the time, not even that) and expects it to be acceptable just because it’s splashing around in a small pond starved of enough shooters to hold the flag without it. It’s a first person shooter that wouldn’t even get a second pity look on any other console and quite frankly, shouldn’t do so on the Wii because owners deserve a lot better. But as it stands, just weeks after its release in the middle of the yearly summer drought, The Conduit is already a complete and total irrelevance.
