Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. Announces Conflict: Desert Storm for PlayStation®2, the Microsoft Xbox, Nintendo GameCube and the PC
Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO) today announced Conflict: Desert Storm, a new squad-based action game, to be available for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, Xbox, GameCube and the PC in Fall 2002.
Published in North America by Take-Two through a licensing arrangement with SCi, Conflict: Desert Storm lets players lead a squad of four fearless soldiers on missions deep in enemy territory.
Based on the 1991 Gulf War, Conflict: Desert Storm is a squad-based action game, where the player takes control of an elite Special Forces SAS or Delta Force Unit, ordered behind enemy lines to infiltrate enemy territory and neutralize key targets. Cameron Spence, an ex-member of 22 Special Air Service (SAS) is advising SCi on the logistics and realism of the game.
"Conflict: Desert Storm is a heart-stopping thrill ride featuring realistic tactical action designed in co-operation with an SAS officer," said Kelly Sumner, Chief Executive Officer of Take-Two Interactive, Inc. "Gamers will immerse themselves in an experience that is as close as it gets to real action."

Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. Ships Conflict: Desert Storm for PlayStation®2, Microsoft Xbox And The PC
Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO) announced today that its Gotham Games subsidiary has shipped Conflict: Desert Storm for the PlayStation®2, the Microsoft Xbox and the PC. Licensed from SCi (SEG.L) and developed by UK based Pivotal Games, Conflict: Desert Storm is now available at stores in North America. This is the first product release from Gotham Games, a publishing label established by Take-Two earlier this year.
Conflict: Desert Storm lets players lead one of the best known and most feared special operations forces in the world: the U.S. Delta Force or the elite British SAS. The missions are as unpredictable as they are dangerous: from vital scud-hunting missions deep within enemy territory to highly secretive rescue and assassination operations in Baghdad. As the first line of defense, the player's objective is clear: Protect Freedom.
"Conflict: Desert Storm is the most action-packed and realistic military action shooter available this year," said Jamie Leece, president, Gotham Games. "The game's unprecedented AI governs both enemy and squad behavior and ballistics to accurately simulate the rigors of combat. Once you've successfully played this game, you're ready to enlist!"
To present the most realistic depiction of the intense ground war in Iraq, the developers recruited as technical consultant, Cameron Spence, a former high-ranking SAS officer who served in Operation Desert Storm.
Conflict: Desert Storm was released in the UK on September 13th and has created a storm of its own by taking the number one spot across all platforms, according to the recent ELSPA reports compiled by Chart-Track.
"Our Gotham Games label was launched to focus exclusively on publishing outstanding content that is accessible to a wide range of consumers," said Kelly Sumner, Chief Executive Officer of Take-Two Interactive Software. "With its broad appeal, exciting gameplay and relevance to world events, Conflict: Desert Storm is an ideal title for the debut of our Gotham Games label."

Squad-based tactical combat takes a ride on the dry side in Conflict: Desert Storm from Gotham Games.
Atari Australia Press Quotes - Windows:
Loosely based on the real-life 1991 Desert Storm campaign, Conflict: Desert Storm puts you in command of either the elite British SAS or America's finest, the Delta Force. Most missions involve teams of four soldiers that must infiltrate enemy territory with virtually no outside assistance.
Before heading off to combat, players should spend a little time in the Training Mode. You'll get to experience all of the rigors of combat training, including obstacle courses, target practice, gun turret practice, vehicle driving and demolitions.
Live From Baghdad
Players control the on-screen action from a handy third-person perspective camera. A wide assortment of armaments is available to handle just about any situation.
Each true-to-life weapon offers realistic recoil and damage effects. Shot accuracy largely depends on target distance and movement. Soldiers can crouch or go fully prone to remain unseen by enemy sentries.
While pretty much every mission takes place in the desert, the variety in geographic terrain is fairly impressive. Branching paths, riverbeds and rocky hillsides allow plenty of options when making your approach. Be sure to scope the area ahead before deciding on a point of entry.
There's no "I" in Teamwork
As a squad-based game, it is important to take advantage of your fellow soldiers. Each of your squad members excels at different aspects of combat.
For maximum results, plug in a few extra Nintendo GameCube controllers and play each mission in co-operative mode. Up to four players can team up and attempt the main missions via split-screen.
Be All That You Can Be
Conflict: Desert Storm offers hours of intense, strategic combat for one to four players. Enlist your services for Conflict: Desert Storm for the Nintendo GameCube.

" With a timely event at the center of the game, a busy single player campaign, solid enemy and teammate AI, drivable vehicles, and Internet multiplayer modes, Conflict: Desert Storm attempts a number of things and gets a lot of them right, resulting in a PC game that even with its faults is entertaining and worth a look, especially if you want to take the virtual battle against Saddam’s forces up to the front lines. 80%" - Eurogamer.com

Back of Case - XBox:
"there is one thing that makes Conflict: Desert Storm stand way above the rest and that, readers, is the feeling. The feeling you get when you are all alone, your companions' dead bodies scattered around you, hiding behind a couple of clay pots to avoid the tank that is just feet away. The feeling you get when you hide behind an abandoned car, knowing that if you don't make a move soon, the enemies' bullets will pierce the petrol tank and you'll be blown sky high. It's simply better than any other war game that I've ever played before, bar none. It sounds great, plays like a dream and will have you racking your brains over how to get through each of the 15 missions unscathed. 8/10" - rewiredmind.com
