Crash ‘N’ Burn will frustrate the hell out of you since it demands so much more from its competitors than nearly every other arcade-type extreme racer. Not only will you have to perform a perfect draft to catch lead cars, you will have to do so while avoiding burning oil slicks, charred sub-frames, and full-speed traffic coming straight at ya’. The graphics and audio leave a lot to be desired, but most folks will understand that the point of the game is gameplay first and foremost, and all else, distant runners-up. It’s also worth noting that all of this destructive goodness comes at the low, low price of $19.99. The extremely low price point makes Crash ‘N’ Burn a must buy for racing nuts with Xbox Live, and should get a long look from anybody looking to try something different in the online arena.

Despite the lackluster audio, however, I found myself having a pretty good time with Crash ‘n’ Burn. The single player portion, while frustrating, is fun for a while, and I enjoy getting on Live with my friends every week or so and slamming my car into theirs. Crash ‘n’ Burn is a fairly bare-bones package, but it’s a fun one, especially at a $20 price point. If you like racing games, you’re bored, and you’ve got a little money burning a hole in your pocket, give Crash ‘n’ Burn a shot; it’s worth the sticker price.

This certainly isn't the best racing game on PS2, Burnout 3 still holds that title. Having said that Crash n Burn is a very enjoyable game. Perhaps with a little more structure and better graphics this game could have scored higher. Don't get me wrong though, this is still worth adding to your collection especially at the lower price of only $AU69.95.

I’m not going to blow exhaust up your tailpipe. Yes, there are better racing games out there, but that doesn’t stop me from recommending Crash “N” Burn to anyone who is looking for a non-serious racing title that focuses on wrecks. Much in the same vein as Test Drive: Eve of Destruction, this game rewards you for dangerous driving while making it nearly impossible to drive a perfect lap. If you like to live fast, drive dangerously, and hold your breath while dodging debris and racing through clouds of smoke and fire then Crash “N” Burn is just the game for you.

Crash 'n' Burn lacks the feeling of solidity and completeness of FlatOut, but it's still highly commendable: it just feels overly transparent. We're not going to mark down for the fact it doesn't use all the official upgrade gubbins you find in the EA games of a similar ilk, and we didn't for FlatOut, either. Crash 'n' Burn is great fun but becomes a little too predictable. It doesn't have the brilliant physics model of FlatOut, instead relying on smashing cars and burning oil to maintain interest. It works for a good while, and there's online racing for 16 players on both PS2 and Xbox when you really get bored. You could do far worse. Vroom.

Crash N Burn is a title that doesn’t overwhelm from the beginning. It really grows on you though and once it does it becomes highly addictive. Some of the race modes are just purely fun, such as the kamikaze races which just encourage destruction. We admit the graphics aren’t exactly great, and the speed isn’t that great, but the game is fun. It is highly entertaining and can last a long time and is playable online, what more can you ask for? Sure, it isn’t as good as Burnout 3 but is a quality stand alone title.

If you're looking for some online destruction, Crash 'n' Burn offers full Xbox Live support for racing and wreckage. On Xbox Live, the game supports up to 16 players with relatively smooth gameplay. Any slots not taken up by human racers are filled by fairly respectable AI racers, which ensures a full track for your crashing pleasure. There are several game modes to help keep things fresh and interesting. Crash 'n' Burn manages to make itself worth the $20 price tag by offering up an average level of everything -- from gameplay to graphics. It doesn't do anything exceptionally well, but it's a pleasant diversion for the price.

Crash 'N' Burn is a fun, if shallow, game that is geared for intermediate gamers that just want to break something and not have to spend half a day learning which button does what. There is a "budget-quality" feel to the game which robs it of personality but treat it like the arcade beeeeatch that it is and you'll do fine.

Crash 'N' Burn is a passable racing game. It doesn't aspire to be much, but there's definitely some fun to be had here. It's easy to get into and provides a great deal of challenge the further you get into it. At the same time, Crash 'N' Burn cannot escape comparisons to a superior title in Burnout 3: Takedown, which arrived several months ago. In a way, this is a shame, because the game does a lot of things right in its unique take on the crash-'em-up subgenre of racing games. Unfortunately, some of Crash 'N' Burn's central ideas--the persistent wrecks being the most obvious example--introduce complexity that, in the end, will leave you more frustrated than thrilled.

Even though Crash 'N' Burn has a lot of shortcomings it's still worth buying because it provides cheap thrills and enough gameplay options to justify its $19.99 MSRP, and to harp on it and say that it's just like Burnout 3 is asinine, because last I checked, EA doesn't hold the rights to making games that involve crashing into things. Fun, pretty, and full of mayhem, Crash 'N' Burn is one budget videogame no racing fan should be without.

Come on through the checklist with me, boys and girls. Crashing? Stiff, slow, unimpressive, and often results in unpredictable chain reactions. Speed? Faster than Eve of Destruction, but slower than Burnout, which happens to make Crash 'N' Burn look like a midget prancing behind a space shuttle. Graphics? Steady framerate that's the result of rudimentary visuals and lacking effects. Gameplay? Contend with the equivalent of RC cars until the track gets so littered with trash you have no choice but to crash and burn. Joy! Multiplayer? Yes, but then you will still be playing the same game, only now in an environment where things can get much more unpleasant. Cool CG that totally and completely misrepresents the actual experience? Oh hell yeah!
