Cyber Empires

I remember playing this game on my amiga a lot when i was younger. To this day it is one of my favorite old games that was released on the amiga (alongside with Moonstone and Super Frog). I wont give much more clues about how to get further, it is your "turn".

It's difficult to decide which of the two (Cyber Empires or Fantasy Empires) is better. It mainly depends on what theme the player likes better. I'd prefer Cyber Empires because fighting with few but powerful units is just more fun to me. But then again Fantasy Empires has more options to weaken the enemy without attacking them directly (the spells). You really have to figure it out for yourself.

A laudable attempt to combine strategy war-gaming with arcade action. It pitches you against both human and computer players, offering a variety of tactics and strategies for global domination. Your conquest commences with a large map, which you attempt to spread yourself around. This section of the game sets up combat which inevitably follows.

Wer sich auf eine Runde Steel Empire einläßt, muß schon etwas Zeit mitbringen. Vor allem im Kreise von Kollegen zieht sich eine vergnügliche Schlacht um den Orion durchaus einen ganzen Abend hin. Steel Empire fährt allerdings mit weit weniger strategischen Feinheiten auf, wie z.B. Dan Buntens Klassiker Command H.Q., der Knaller Battle Isle oder einige Konkurrenzspiele aus japanischer Produktion. Auch technisch müssen Abstriche gemacht werden: Die Grafik ist alles andere als attraktiv und außer ein paar mageren Soundeffekten wird nicht viel geboten. Und trotzdem: Für Gelegenheitsstrategen ist Steel Empire ein willkommener, spannender Taktikeinstieg.

Tatsächlich rangeln in ihren neuen Strategical zwei bis fünf menschliche oder digitale Galakto-Mächte darum, wer draußen ins All das Sagen hat. Uns soll’s recht sein, also stürzen wir uns in die Schlacht. Doch halt, vorläufig wird noch nicht geschlachtet, zunächst hat nämlich jeder der beteiligten Futuro-Metzger nur eines der insgesamt 72 Länder unter seinem Messer.
