DescriptionDark Dimensions: City of Fog where “Fog” is a metaphor describing the thin wisps of separation between the living world and the world of the departed. The story begins with a young beautiful girl named Lillian who is on the eve of her nuptials. She was to be married the next day to William the heir of a wealthy family of Silvertown. But on the night before her wedding she mysteriously dies. Her swift departure from all of life’s possibilities to the depths of toil and trouble has left the town stricken with despair. So much so that upon her death the town is consumed in a thick fog, where it has remained for 100 years, which is the point the player arrives in Silvertown. You are also the sole survivor of a car crash that has taken your entire family from this world leaving you alone. From this traumatic event you have gained an ability to communicate through the fog into the super natural world beyond. Given your ability Lillian’s ghostly spirit appears and pleads that you find her killer. Lillian in all of her beauty had many admirers some casual with no ill will and others harboring jealousy and obsession stalking her every movement. Many secrets embody this fog shrouded old mining town just waiting for you to uncover them and find the real truth.
The player interface and game play provides a hybrid approach of graphical adventure with on-screen movement touch points, puzzles and somewhat traditional hidden-object-style. Most of the hidden-object scenes are traditional while others differ in the need to combine tools to complete the scene. Word items displayed at the bottom of the screen in yellow are things that require special tools. The tools are found in the current hidden-object scene and needed at the appropriate spot to complete. Objects collected in inventory at the bottom of the screen require the player to drop or drag them onto other items in the scenes to activate or complete needed tasks for progression.
