Dark Earth

Uiteraard valt er nog veel meer te vertellen over Dark Earth, maar plaatsgebrek noopt mij hier te eindigen want hoezeer ik ook smeekte of dreigde, ik kon geen 5de pagina lospeuteren van Peter Beirsmans (Ed.). Bekijk nog even de screenshots en de bijbehorende teksten en daarna is het aan jou om te beslissen of je de tocht zal wagen of niet. Ik kan het je alvast van harte aanbevelen.

Prócz realizmu jest jeszcze rozmach, gdyż intryga w grze jest naprawdę znakomita. Program dysponuje bardzo użyteczną możliwością przeczytania zapisów wszystkich odbywających się do tej pory rozmów. Możemy również odtworzyć obejrzane już scenki przerywnikowe. A te naprawdę zapierają dech w piersiach...

Dark Earth jest naprawdę wspaniałą grą. Inteligentna fabuła, piękna grafika, niesamowity klimat; to główne cechy, które niewąptliwie zapewnią grze duży sukces. Całość robi duże wrażenie i sądzę, że Dark Earth będzie jednym z najpoważniejszych kandydatów do tytułu gry roku. Warto było czekać!

Dark Earth is a very solid game. It challenges the mind, gives the eye plenty of nice things to look at, provides a well-written and enveloping story, and is just plain fun to play. If you're a fan of graphic adventures, I'd definitely suggest picking this one up. Heck, even if you don't like adventures, I'd still suggest picking this one up, because it is a little more fast-paced and gives the user more control over the character than in some other adventures or RPGs -- it's a good all-around game which can definitely appeal to more than just fans of the genre.

El único defecto que se puede achacar al programa de Kalisto es una cierta dejadez en la elaboración de los diálogos. Por un lado está la imposibilidad de escoger las réplicas de nuestro personaje, lo que significa que quedaremos al margen del juego en las conversaciones, y por el otro, la abundancia de los monólogos de nuestros interlocutores explicándonos la historia del mundo, lo acaba cansando un poco. Con esta salvedad, Dark Earth es un programa que te cautivará por completo.

Dark Earth is a great game and worth checking out. Its system requirements are quite low; that's an added plus for people with slow systems, and it is certainly not at the sacrifice of otherwise very high-quality graphics and sounds. All in all, Dark Earth is a good game with few flaws, and worth your hard earned money.

It's a shame that production issues such as these are the main reason Dark Earth falls soundly into 'well worth a look' territory as opposed to being an essential purchase. That's not to say that it isn't worthy of the attention of prospective adventurers as the rich storyline alone will be enough to keep most people happy, and with the added diversions of hand-to-hand fisticuffs and puzzle-solving elements, Dark Earth offers a well-rounded gameplay experience that should appeal to many gamers who wouldn't normally be attracted to the adventure genre too.

Overall, Dark Earth is a splendid adventure game. It may not have enough arcade action for some gamers, but adventure gamers definitely should experience it. It's not puzzle-intensive, but is complicated enough to keep even the most experienced adventurer glued to the screen.

An adventure game akin to Origin's classic Bioforge (or a modernized Alone in the Dark), Dark Earth features superb graphics, outstanding 3D character animation, and unique action-adventuring in one beautifully crafted package. Adventurers longing for a deep and rich story, with carefully crafted characters, coupled with swashbuckling fighting action and challenging puzzles and problem solving, look no further.

Die ansprechende Optik und die phantasiereiche Hintergrundgeschichte von Dark Earth sind eine willkommene Abwechslung im Abenteueralltag. Selten habe ich meinen Helden durch stilvollere Grafiken geschickt als auf dem Stalliten Sparta. Zudem wird eine anspruchsvolle Geschichte erzählt, die mit ihrer seltsamen Mixtur auf futuristischem Umfeld und archaisch anmutenden Elementen durchaus zu fesseln weiß.

If Dark Earth demonstrates anything, it's that content and not form can still provide the key to creating a successful PC title. Beautifully rendered though the game's 200-odd backdrops are, what works the real magic is the unfolding storyline and the sense of wonder that results as the player unravels the chain of events in the game and communicates with the myriad characters he encounters. The title may use the same format pioneered by Infogrames' Alone in the Dark games but it has little in common with that venerable yet frankly outdated series.

Dark Earth verströmt aus jeder Pore eine Spannung, wie sie sonst eher gute Rollenspiele verbreiten. Dazu kommen die prachtvoll gepixelten Hintergrundgrafiken und eine Handlung, die an plötzlichen Wendungen und Überraschungen kaum zu überbieten ist und trotzdem glaubwürdig wirkt. Sogar die Gespräche erscheinen hier realistisch: Daß die Dialoge vollautomatisch ablaufen, fällt weniger auf als bei mancher sinnlosen Multiple-Choice-Klickorgie. Ein paar lästige Kleinigkeiten stören mich bei aller Begeisterung trotzdem: Die arg eingeschränkte Möglichkeit zur Sicherung des Spielstands erzwingt regelmäßig ausgedehnte Spaziergänge zur nächsten Speicherstation. Das knappe Zeitlimit und Kämpfe, in denen immer eine Portion Glück mitschwingt, verschärfen dieses Problem zusätzlich. Trotz der Mängel: Dark Earth hat mehr als genug spielerische Substanz.Wer spannende Adventures mag, fühlt sich auf der »dunklen Erde« wie zuhause.

И даже на невинный вопрос "А тебе-то нравится?" -- ответить не получается. С одной стороны, поиграла, и с удовольствием, а могла бросить в самом начале. С другой - вроде и вспомнить нечего. С одной, все там в порядке - и с логикой сюжета, и с характерами, и с "геймплеем", не говоря уж о графике. С другой - так и хочется найти какой-нибудь существенный изъян и носом в него, носом. Так ведь не найдешь! Существенного. И достоинств не найдешь. Существенных. Так себе игра, сыграть разок - вполне потянет. Once a month on rainy Sunday.

Several changes would have made Dark Earth a better game, but as it is, it still isn't too bad. As an adventure gamer, I could have done with more puzzles and less combat. Mousing capabilities throughout the game would have made it less frustrating and time-consuming. I might note that it did win a CNET Best Adventure Game Award for 1997. Recommendation levels are inversely proportionate to price--i.e., the cheaper the game, the higher the recommendation.

Nok er det flot at se på, men sammenlignet med ældre spil i samme boldgade er Dark Earth en lidt tynd kop te, omend det ikke er direkte elendigt.

Dark Earth provides the adventure gamer a well-rounded package of interesting characters, plenty of puzzles, hand-to-hand combat, gorgeous graphics and a gripping story line. So if you're looking for some sword-wielding action in your adventure game, then this might be the answer. I say "might" since there is one catch (more on that later).

Dark Earth is a game targeted at a younger audience, with lots of fighting and some fairly simple puzzles, but there is plenty here for the more mature player too. While I am not a great fan of fighting-rich adventure games, Dark Earth captured me with its story and setting and kept me playing feverishly until the end.

Dark Earth is a solid entry into the maturing genre of action and adventure game hybrids. I loved the stylistic graphics and strong narrative, and felt the combat blended into the traditional adventure game format admirably. Unfortunately, experienced players will not find the puzzles, inventory management, or NPC interaction challenging enough to warrant more than a cursory glance. If you are new to the genre and would like to test your metal with a quality title, Dark Earth provides sufficiently engaging gameplay and a clean, well-conceived interface. Just don't say I didn't warn you about that final step. It can be a doozie.
