Well worth a crack at.

The Good
I loved this game once I got into it. The Historical info that you get with the package is good but there's plenty of stuff within the game as well. This includes a who's who of Fighter Aces like Von Richthofen, Rene' Fonke, Albert, Ball and the like.

Another nice touch is the aircraft all highly detailed with exact handling characteristics such as, the Fokker DIII which is great for aerobatics of all kinds as is the Sopworth Camel and Spad XIII but the Albatross, tho good for fighting, is prone to stall in steep climbs.

You can go on individual missions and beat ups as well as campaigns, there's a choice of nationalities to choose from and the dog fights are something else. You have different cockpit views, (use the F keys to see them), and you can see the action from ground level the same way.

Everything is simple to use via the menus and the gameplay is absorbing. All in all Dawn Patrol is a very playable game and a lot of fun!!.

The Bad
There was very little wrong with Dawn Patrol but if I had to be picky, I would say its only drawback is that there is an in built auto pilot which can fly the whole mission if you let it.

The Bottom Line
A good World War 1 air combat simulator that was way ahead of the competition in its day.
