Desert Strike on harvinaisen viimeistelty ja huolellisesti suunniteltu peli. Koko tuotteesta uusittua kansikuvaa myöten pursuaa tyyli. Sellaiset yksityiskohdat kuten mainiosti animoidut pikkumiehet ja vartiotornista putoavan sotilaan hurja huuto tuovat peliin oman viehätyksensä. Erinomainen toteutus ja pelattavuus, vaativuus ja tehtävien hämmästyttävä monipuolisuus (kakkospilotti on eräässä vaiheessa jopa laskettava ajamaan bussia!) nostavat Desert Striken korkealle Amiga-pelien ilmatilassa.

The Genesis really needs some more games like this. This action/simulation game is as realistic as they get. I was very impressed with the graphic detail as well as the play control. Bravo, Electronic Arts, you've struck oil (no pun intended). Unfortunately, the Desert Storm reference slightly dates the game, but... who cares? I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel... How about it?

Desert Strike flies. it's easy to play, but tough. If you're a hard-core heli-warrior with an itch for Special Ops war action lifted straight from yesterday's headlines, scratch here. Economic sanctions will never make a good video game, so take to the skies with Desert Strike. the action's hot!

DOSThe Good Old Days
This is a good game overall. Despite its sometimes frustrating gameplay and lack of replay value, it is well done and fun most of the time. It gives great satisfaction to complete a level you've been stuck on for quite some time (granted, it is amazingly frustrating to run out of gas just before you finish a level you've been stuck on for a long time). Give this game a try.

Desert Strike is fun to play and requires quick thinking as well as strategy. If you go in just trying to blow everything up, you'll use up all of your ammo and wind up a sitting duck. As you take out specific targets, additional fuel and ammo become available. There is a wide variety of missions including destroying targets, rescuing prisoners, capturing an ambassador, stopping an oil spill, and taking out SCUD launchers. Passwords allow you to save your progress after completing each mission. The difficulty ramps very gradually. Desert Strike is a very original and well-designed game.

A sturdy conversion, of a game past its technical peak, but still featuring plenty to do. If you were waiting for this to arrive, buy it without hesitation.

I fell head over heels in love with the 16-bit Strike games, and the GBA reissue, which just happens to coincide with the series' 10th anniversary, is just as addictive as it was back in the day. The sheer depth of strategy, inventive resource management, and impressive controls blend perfectly - creating a thrilling gaming experience.

When humans are reborn in Resident Evil, they become flesh-eating freaks that should be destroyed immediately. When old SNES games are reborn on the Game Boy Advance, gamers find themselves re-immersed in the classic games that once ruled the industry. Every Strike-lover should buy this game, but if you already own the SNES version and hate to spend more money, convince your friend to buy it so that you can "borrow" it from him! You probably won't want to give it back, though...

I've played Desert Strike on the Genesis, SNES, and Atari Lynx, and the Game Boy Advance conversion sticks to a great formula, making it as good as, if not better than the original Genesis version. My one real complaint: it still requires a password to access the other three maps...a cartridge save would have made the game a lot better than the original, since it could have also recorded player statistics and scores. But it looks like EA only wanted a direct port...and nothing more than that. And this decade-old game still works, especially as a handheld action title.

Overall, this port of Desert Strike: Return to the Gulf isn't a bad game. The music sounds good, the graphics are done well, and it's not a cakewalk. Sure, there are some issues here and there, but the game made the jump from 16-bit console to PC without too many hick-ups. Nothing was horrifically broken, and it still plays much the same. If you want to fly around and blow stuff up in a chopper, without having to be bogged down with a lot of simulation traits, you'll likely enjoy this game. So hop in the cockpit, and take it to the desert madman.

Gun targeting problems and lackluster backgrounds could be said to hurt the game, but Desert Strike and its two sequels (Jungle Strike and Urban Strike) might surprise you with their complexity.

Strike fans and gamers who enjoy challenging action/shooters should climb this Apache's cockpit. You'll be piloting one of the better Game Boy carts around.

Don't let the fact that Desert Strike only has four levels scare you off. All four of the levels are huge, and they have several challenging and fun objectives to complete. Even if you're not super crazy about games in which you control an aircraft or games about war, give Desert Strike a chance. I didn't think I would like the game one bit at first, but it turned out to be one of my favorites.

The CD version features an extra level at no extra cost, so if you're suitably tooled up with a CD-ROM drive, this is the one to go for. The graphics and sound effects aren't fantastic, but at least Desert Strike offers much more fun than the likes of Novastorm.

Good graphics and sweet control don't do you much good when you see the Game Over screen every five minutes. This is strictly a hardcore-exclusive title. If your gaming skills rival those of Master Yoda, then I say take Desert Strike Advance for a spin. If not, stick to Mario Kart.

A lot of detail went into this game. A little tiny helicopter and little tiny people and little tiny tanks and little tiny bunkers. You get the picture. Basically, you fly around in an AH-64 Super Apache Gunship, wielding Chain Guns, H-Fire Missiles and Hydra Rockets in an attempt to stop General Kilbaba from blowing up the entire planet. You have to complete several missions, like rescuing prisoners of war. Your helicopter drops a ladder and the little people climb up. It's all very cute. Especially for a war sim game. You'll have fun flying around in the helicopter.

The colorless explosions won't inspire any Vietnam flashbacks and the beepy sound isn't gonna win a Grammy. Some of the solid gameplay of the original has been maintained, which means fun can be had --- you just have to work real hard to find it. Overall, Desert Strike is still a good game and worth adding to your Game Boy library, but it just can't compare with the big fun of the 16-bit version.

Try as they might, these gunship military games really need a big screen and a large platform. Unfortunately, Desert Strike just doesn't cut it on the small screen, despite pretty good graphics. The effect just isn't there.

A fairly faithful portable version of the 16-Bit military classic. Like the other versions, the levels are huge with plenty of enemies to destroy and submissions to complete. Good control, too.

The graphics are decent, and the missions are varied. Childish story; ticklish control; and some truly annoying sound effects. If you wondered if you should have bought a cartridge system instead of a PC, Desert Strike will convince you that you made the right call.

Game Boy AdvanceVideo Game City
Desert Strike Advance has to be one of the most disappointing ports in the Game Boy Advance library. It is a port that has aged poorly and a game that was never excellent to begin with. The game received mixed reviews from the media for being overly difficult and for being weak in the graphics department (even by the 16-bit standards). The game was released way back in the early 90's as an action shooter that allows you to take control of an army helicopter and complete various missions with various scenarios. The game had difficult controls and and an overly high difficulty level. Now I must honestly say that I never had any thought that this game would ever be considered for a port to the Game Boy Advance, simply because the Game Boy Advance can do better than Desert Strike.

Game Boy AdvanceAll Game Guide
As it stands, Desert Strike is a worthy choice for those who have never enlisted in the series and are looking for a challenging shooter that won't be finished in one sitting. Everyone else should go AWOL on this title, however, as it is yet another Game Boy Advance cartridge offering nothing to those who have previously played it in one form or another -- other than perhaps a fleeting dose of nostalgia.

Game Boy AdvanceGamePro
This game is just plain hard, in the frustrating way many 16-bit games were, so expect to play missions again and again before you manage to survive intact. The smaller GBA screen means you can't see as much of your surroundings as you could in the originals, making it easy to sustain damage from something you can't even see. The graphics are straight out of the SNES version and look sufficiently desert-y enough; the sound is also straight out of the SNES version and is just as tinny and out of tune. While not at all unplayable, Desert Strike was probably better off left untouched in the memories of nostalgic gamers.
