Destination: Treasure Island

Destination: Treasure Island is an excellent graphical adventure game that offers a variety of challenging (but not impossible) puzzles to solve as you journey in this game set in the age of pirates and island adventures. The game offers great graphics, fun music, and a story line that had me hooked from the start.

Overall, DTI is a wonderful game. While no familiarity with the original Treasure Island novel is required, readers of that story will at least begin the game knowing some of the main characters. Given the excellent artwork, the somewhat whimsical story line, the good puzzles, and the clean user interface, DTI should be enjoyed by adventure gamers of all ages.

Destination: Treasure Island stands alone for its “invention” system. I haven’t played a game ever that allowed me to take apart a perfectly useful tool to use it parts for something else then turn around and put it back together to use it as it was intended before in my life. The game is well worth the $30 dollars for all those who were fans of the book and perhaps those who just want to feel young at heart.

A good adventure game is tough to find, so when one comes along, you have to jump at the chance to play it. Destination: Treasure Island is one of those games. Boasting an incredible story, great presentation and fun, sensible puzzles, this is one game that fans of the genre and fans of the classic story have to play.

There have been lots of great adventure games over the years with horrible stories and great puzzles, just as there have been plenty of intriguing stories dragged down with the same old puzzles over and over again with different window dressing. But Kheops has managed to craft a great story that builds on the original while managing to keep you interested with a great series of twists along the way. It may start out as a simple treasure hunt, but as Jim gets deeper into his quest to solve Silver's riddles, he'll learn more about the island, and what exactly happened to Silver after he went on the run. And Kheops managed to do this while creating a great set of puzzles that fit in perfectly with the atmosphere, never pulling you out of the game in order to make you solve another sliding tile puzzle for no apparent reason.

So, overall, I’m going to place Destination: Treasure Island in the “nice game” category. It’s not going to wow you or keep you up at night, and I doubt it’s going to make any adventure gaming Top Ten lists, but it’s pleasant and accessible, and I enjoyed it enough during the 5-6 hours I spent with it that I feel comfortable giving it a modest recommendation.

Even with its heavy puzzle element, Destination: Treasure Island is a grand adventure. If players don't get snagged up on the rocks of a few of the tougher puzzles, they should be able to make it through the game in several sittings; once you get hooked you'll hardly want to break for the bathroom. Solid storytelling, great graphics, and a lot of nice touches make this quest for booty a pirate fan's delight. Landlubbers should get a kick out of it too.

Sensible and fun, Destination: Treasure Island is a must for anyone who likes a good pirate yarn. There isn't anything here that's particularly innovative, although traditional adventures are rarely this rational and enjoyable.

It was with some trepidation that I ordered this game, for there was next to no press ballyhoo, and it suddenly appeared for purchase one day. I wondered if the publishers were trying to sell the game quickly, before the reviews lambasted it. Thankfully, my fears were put to rest in short order. While neither innovative nor upper echelon, the game is fun to play.

Die Schatzsuche kann beginnen. Bei dem Spiel "Neue Abenteuer auf der Schatzinsel" handelt es sich um ein Adventure welches der Spieler aus der Ich-Perspektive erlebt. Es gilt einen Schatz zu finden der nach einen Rätselgedicht versteckt wurde. Liebevolle Gegenden und eine passende Geräuschkulisse sorgen für ein schönes Piratenfeeling. Leider fehlen dem Spiel die Animationen und Zwischensequenzen. Der Versuch einige Neuerung in das Spiel einzuflechten (einzuknoten) hat irgendwie nicht so richtig funktioniert. "Neue Abenteuer auf der Schatzinsel" ist ein Adventure für Spieler welche gern Kombinationsrätsel lösen. Gerade in der aktuellen Zeit wo sich Piratengeschichten (Fluch der Karibik) hoher Beliebtheit erfreuen ist das Spiel für Piratenfans bestens geeignet.

Es hätte eine spannende Piratengeschichte mit einer Schatzsuche werden können. Und größtenteils ist das auch gelungen. Erstaunlicherweise wird das Spiel in dem Moment schlechter, wenn Jim auf den ersten anderen Menschen auf der Insel trifft und sich etwas länger unterhalten kann. Das liegt aber nicht an der Person, auf die er trifft, sondern einfach nur daran, dass die Geschichte in diesem Moment fast ihr gesamtes Potenzial verliert. Überhaupt lehnt sich die Geschichte eher lose an die Romanvorlage an und erreicht nie die Qualität des Originals. Die technische Umsetzung hingegen ist klasse, auch wenn animierte Zwischensequenzen das Spiel noch etwas auflockern könnten. Als Budget-Version ist 'Neue Abenteuer auf der Schatzinsel' auf jeden Fall einen Blick wert.

It's a gentle game, which makes Destination: Treasure Island a good entry level for new gamers, but it's also a fair bit of fun for old seadogs as well. It's jaunty and a little different in some respects, and kept me entertained for a weekend.

In the end this is a solid, light-hearted game that’s fun to play and has very little violence. It’s not challenging, mind you, and not overly long. For the new adventure gamer, Destination would be a great introduction; seasoned players might find it a good palate cleanser between brain-benders. There’s no law that says every game has to keep you up past your bedtime, invading your thoughts even while you work or eat dinner. But if you’re looking for a high level of difficulty, deep mystery, or knock-your-socks-off graphics, look elsewhere.

Una aventura gráfica que no aburrirá a ningún tipo de jugador, que tal vez soñaba con convertirse en un clásico al igual que la novela de la que procede, pero que se queda en un digno intento.

While there's nothing particularly wrong with Destination: Treasure Island, there is also very little that stands out. It's a decidedly average game, and in such a crowded field, that makes it a bit of a tough sell. That doesn't mean that pirate-loving adventure game fans shouldn't take the plunge, but they just shouldn't expect to wowed.

Destination Treasure Island may not be in the upper echelon of adventure games I’ve played, but it’s enough to have me looking forward to seeing what Coladia will be sending our way next.

Cap sur l’Île au Trésor se destine clairement à un public adolescent, en raison de son character design et de son esprit gentillement « d’jeuns », mais aussi de ses énigmes, qui manquent singulièrement de difficulté. Sans aller jusqu’à dire que les choses se passent trop facilement, on ne peut en effet qu’être étonné de voir combien la plupart des énigmes se trouvent du premier coup. Difficile, en conséquent, de ressentir ce voyage comme un véritable défi. Il s’agit plutôt d’une belle balade, ponctuée d’énigmes symthathiques. La grande qualité de la réalisation (le jeu est dépourvu de bugs, ce qui est suffisamment rare pour être signalé) et le plaisir de découvrir un jeu d’aventure panoramique dans un univers de piraterie suffisent pour nous charmer et nous faire passer un agréable moment.

Vielmehr klicken Sie sich von Standbild zu Standbild, können allenfalls per Mausbewegung einen Rundumblick wagen. Sie können Hawkins weder selbstständig laufen lassen, noch bekommen Sie ihn im Spiel überhaupt zu Gesicht - abgesehen von Schwarzweiß-Zeichnungen, die nach dem Lösen bestimmter Spielabschnitte eingeblendet werden. Die Rätsel selbst sind relativ einfach. Manchmal zu einfach, etwa wenn Sie Seemanns-Knoten knüpfen sollen und die "Schwierigkeit" sich darin erschöpft, eine von zwei Schaltflächen anzuklicken. Da ist es sicher erheblich spannender, sich das Original "reinzuziehen" - den alten, aber ewig jungen Roman von Stevenson. Dieses Spiel ist nämlich nur wegen einer ordentlichen Techniknote "befriedigend". Spaß macht es nicht.

Der Titel „Neue Abenteuer auf der Schatzinsel“ verbaut sich seine gute Wertung durch ein unübersichtliches und kompliziertes Inventar, sowie eine mittelmäßige Präsentation.

Entwickler Nobilis programmiert Adventures für Geduldige. Auch Neue Abenteuer auf der Schatzinsel ist berstend voll mit Gegenständen, die sich auf unzählige Arten kombinieren lassen. Getragen wird die Tüftelei von einer sympathischen Geschichte, massentauglich gemacht durch den Auftritt von Long John Silver, dem Piraten aus Robert Louis Stevensons Roman Die Schatzinsel. Man selber spielt den jungen Jim Hawkins, um einen Schatz aufzustöbern. Der eigensinnige Spielablauf stellt den Umgang mit Werkzeugen in den Mittelpunkt, witzige Dialoge und interessante Charaktere fehlen wie gehabt. Wer daran Gefallen findet, hat mit den neuen Abenteuern seinen Spaß.

Treasure Island was a classic, and it really didn’t need a sequel. In fact, they could have worked within the framework of the novel to create a game; instead what was created is a lukewarm sequel that fails to engage. The characters a two dimensional, and while the game gives some challenging puzzles nothing here will really stand out. The glory days of adventure games may never return, but it would be nice to see a game that excels above mediocrity.

Ich spiele gerne Grafik-Adventures! Wenn's sein muss sogar aus dieser tendenziell sterilen Myst-Perspektive. Dann müssen es allerdings eine spannende Story und originelle Rätsel rausreißen. Hier bekommen Sie von all dem exakt nichts. Das einzige, was nicht allzu sehr nervt, ist die düdelige Musik. Aber auch nur, weil das Spiel nach etwa sechs bis neun Stunden schon vorbei ist. Leute, die gerade einen Segelschein machen und gerne mit Gegenständen herumexperimentieren, können einen Blick riskieren, alle anderen heuern hier besser nicht an.
