I really was not expecting to like Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End as much as I did. It definitely makes the most of the license and delivers a fun game for the Wii. While the controls might not be a perfect as they could be, just the fact that you can swing your arms like a real pirate gives the Wii version a ton more mileage than the button mashing console versions.

My conclusion uses the gameplay pattern. Other way put, is as simple and clear as it gets. Pirates of the Caribbean 3 is not a game that delivers thrills. It never had such pretensions. It's not even a natural evolution, if we put aside the technical achievement. In case you've enjoyed the movie and you're capable to overlook the childishly routed design, then you can definitely spare some time from your budget and take a closer look. The incursion is worthy of our consideration as it is unworthy of attention. The deathblow is yours.

In the end, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End can be a good game and a fun ride. Fans should definitely have a go at it, since it manages to pass on the movie's trademark humor and traditional scenes of swordplay, explosions and gunfire. Unfortunately, it's safe to say none of this will have a lasting effect on the player. In truth, it's nothing more than a generic action-packed game experience, inspired by a Hollywood blockbuster with very little depth. If you've seen one, you've seen 'em all.

In this summer blockbuster movie season, we are going to be seeing a lot of licensed titles hitting the 360. Pirates offers some spattering of fun, but in the end might bore you. Fans of the Pirates films or those looking for something to keep them busy over a weekend should give this a look. Ultimately, there isn’t enough meat here to keep you playing for weeks on end, but if you want something to show off your HDTV with not a lot of thinking involved, you are in for a treat. Not horrible at all, but also, nothing aside from the visuals is compelling enough to warrant a higher score. This is definitely the right direction to take a movie licensed game, let’s just hope they can build on this and offer some gameplay innovations next time.

What seemed like a dull game in the first minutes, turned into a pretty nice adventure, that, although it has many flaws, can keep a gamer satisfied and glued to the TV screen for at least 4 hours, the length of the story mode. Jack Sparrow's insanely fun spirit is present in the game and that's enough to sell any media product, isn't it? Sadly the movie trilogy ends here, but maybe one day we'll get the chance to see a proper gaming version of such blockbusters.

PSPIGN
Pirates of the Caribbean may not be the most original or fine-tuned title out there for PSP, but as a licensed pairing with the third movie the game still serves its purpose, as the design combines the age-old art of action titles with the music, presentation, and characters of Pirates of the Caribbean. At no time during our adventure we’re our minds collectively blown, but there were certainly high points during the game, making it worthy for a rental or used purchase. The PSP version stands up to its PS2 counterpart nicely, dropping only a few of the finer textures and some more subtle animation in the process. On the gameplay side, Pirates is virtually unchanged, though you’ll need to sacrifice the “Challenge Mode” for 2-4 player Ad Hoc and game sharing with versions of poker, hearts, and pirate’s dice. Still, the PSP version offers nearly as much content as the other titles available, and keeps the experience in tact.

Both the Wii and PS2 versions are essentially the same, with Wii looking a little better and PS2 implementing button control over an often-basic – but marginally entertaining – motion control system. If you’re a fan of the movies, you’ll dig playing the game. Just be sure to check your brain at the door, as it makes solid use of an existing action template, but innovates very little in the process.

So it's not a masterpiece, nor will it set new benchmarks, but if you're a fan of the movies then Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End may keep you entertained for a while.

There were a few moments where I felt like Pirates could actually spark my interest, but I left bored in the long run. There’s a decent amount of fun that can be had with this game, but you’ve got to be in the right mindset. Much like the movies, At World’s End is at best a popcorn game. It’s pretty enough to look at, and you can bide some time by mindlessly pressing buttons, but only the scurviest of sea dogs won’t leave disappointed at the end of this one.

At World's End is a very mixed bag. As a movie title, it's not too bad, I suppose, and it certainly looks high budget. Unfortunately, without the Pirates license the game would be a bargain title.

In the end, the Pirates 3 game comes out being the best of the movie-game trilogies, but that isn't saying much. Where as Shrek the Third and Spider-Man 3 were downright bad, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End is bordering on the edge of mediocrity. With a bit more polish, and a slightly more engaging experience, this could've gone down as being one of the best movie-games in a long time. Unfortunately, At World's End cannot pull through on the strength of its pretty visuals and nice audio alone. There simply isn't much to see that's worth the $40 ticket. If you're really curious, rent it first.

Ultimately, between the short campaign and the rather bland combat, Pirates doesn’t do a lot to separate itself from the heap of other action games just like it. But for some reason, maybe the score, the graphics, and the subject matter pull it together for a rather entertaining rental-like play through. It’s a recommendable game to fans of the movies, but beyond that its reach really won’t extend any further. Don’t be afraid to check it out, but really, unless you’re a die-hard fan, don’t buy it.

When it's all said and done, At World's End is a very by-the-books approach to a movie-based game. It has, and lets you play as, all the characters you'd want to play; it doesn't deviate from the movies' plots too much; and it takes you to many of the locations you see in the films. While those are good things, the game really would have benefited by taking some risks. The biggest problem is that you're playing as a cool character in an exotic location, but you're not doing anything interesting, just running around picking up items and hitting the attack button endlessly. Unless you're a huge fan of the Pirates trilogy, you'll want to rent this one or pass on it altogether.

I wanted this game to be more of a challenge. I was hoping that this game would be the one title that stood out from the rest of movie/games, but I was let down. Let us just be grateful that there are not any more Pirates’ movies left to do.

As I'm writing this review, I'm realizing that it's coming off as pretty negative. Honestly, though, I didn't dislike the game as much as you might assume from reading this. In fact, there were times when I was getting into the action despite the repetitive fighting. A lot of the levels are well-designed and if you're a Pirates fan, it does a pretty good job of transporting you into Jack's world. With a little more effort (or a deadline that didn't mean that the game had to be released the same week as the movie), AWE could have been quite a bit better. As it stands, however, it's just a slightly above-average movie game. Arrrr.

This is a classic case of graphics vs gameplay. We saw 1 or 2 hints of good puzzles, and I think it'll be suitable for kids, but the poor game design acts as a bottleneck on the fun. I'm not going as harsh as Jung, I think the dueling was ok and the graphics & great sound count for something. Its 6/10 from me.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" é daqueles games de ação que se joga numa tacada.

When it comes to complimenting the movie experience, the PSP version of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End appears to provide the best experience. You come for the mildly entertaining main quest and you stay for the mini-games - all for the thrifty $30 price point. Don't worry - despite being half the price of the supposed 'ultimate experience' on next-gen consoles, you come out a winner shopping on the cheap for your Pirates experience. And what's more pirate than getting more for less?

If this game held true to the Pirates of the Caribbean films, the dissipated Captain Jack Sparrow would be nearly impossible to control. His love of rum would mean that he could never walk a straight line. His manipulative approach would lead to most objectives being solved by other characters that were tricked into it. If handled properly, players would walk away from this game feeling both filthy and morally crushed. While there is a hint of drunken stupor to the game’s version of Captain Jack Sparrow, he’s mostly a likeable buffoon who suckers proud swordsmen into embarrassing deaths. This is very much the PG version of one of cinema’s most dynamic characters.

Unlike the swashbuckling Disney trio of cash-cow films, developer Eurocom's Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End comes closer to walking the plank than it does scoring some sunken treasure. Well, at least in terms of summertime fun. Casting minor inconveniences aside (long load times, especially when moving between interiors and exteriors), the attention to detail -- such as the rowdy pirate town of Port Royal or Capt. Jack Sparrow's inebriated mannerisms -- is spot-on with the films. And while Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, and Keira Knightley don't provide their respective characters' voices, the actors portraying them sound so close to the real thing that we had to do a double-take just to make sure they really were soundalikes and not some mutant clones created by Disney.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End does a great job of making you feel like you’re playing through the film. Becoming a pirate in the glory days of swashbuckling high sea adventures might not have the swagger of an original concept like Sid Meier's Pirates, but it’s good enough given the colourful cast of characters and fun loving plotline. The gameplay is shallow, monotonous, and straight forward while remaining fun. I wouldn’t dip into my treasure chest and spend my loot on Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End, but I can easily recommend it as a rental.

Pirates of the Caribean 3: At Worlds End is een redelijke filmgame geworden die voornamelijk voor de jonge kids bedoeld is. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End has bags of atmosphere and excellent graphics but it is let down by the shallow missions and basic combat system. You rarely feel like you’re reliving the movie and in spin-off such as this it’s an essential criterion. If only the developers had used the Prince of Persia gaming engine, then we would have had a real swordfighting game on our hands.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End is not the game we hoped it to be - and certainly doesn't fare too well compared to the PS3 version which we are enjoying a bit more. If you are a fan of the movies then you should get some enjoyment out of this PSP game (or indeed the game on the many other platforms - with more reviews to come soon). The developers have kept to the second and third movies storyline and added in a few neat locations to explore and fill in some events not seen on the silver screen. Sadly unlike the brilliant movies this game is quite average.

With some authentic music and almost-decent graphics, this game is good enough to fool your kids into thinking it's a worthwhile Pirates of the Caribbean experience. But for anyone looking for a good action/pirate game that stands on its own, this is definitely one to be avoided. It falls into many of the traps that movie-licensed games do, which if you're like me, you've gotten very sick of - especially after so many disappointments like this one.

The stages are short, and your progress is saved automatically and frequently. Most enemies don't require an inordinate number of hits to defeat. The game features its own unique storyline, although it does borrow elements from the films. Its rousing musical score is very cinematic, and the surround-sound effects are sensational. Should you get lost or confused, you can just press the select button to view your objectives or review the controls. At World's End falters at times, but it's still a respectable effort that stays true to the movies it's based upon.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End isn't that bad. It does a few things quite well and few things poorly. It is perhaps the very definition of mediocre. Combat is repetitive and boring, but not particularly flawed in any way, except perhaps for the weak AI. If you're a big Pirates fan, you'll probably have a fun time with it, but it will end up gathering dust on the shelf after a single playthrough. Otherwise, it's best to pass on this game until it reaches the bargain bin. For a $60 adventure, At World's End just doesn't have what it takes to bring home the gold.

Looking back at it all, At World’s End doesn’t really do anything to demand a purchase of any kind – even for fans who loved the film-trilogy finale. It seems as if Disney Interactive tried to push in too many locations, too many characters, and too many plots into one thing – a familiar complaint that some movie critics even had with the recent trilogy finale. This is a movie game that’s average at best, and should only be considered for a rental in dire straits. But when the day’s done, many will realize that this video-game was really intended for the kids, especially when the Wii version’s involved. At least they’re the ones that are less prone to carpel-tunnel these days.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End feels like it could have been so much more. The storyline could have been more coherent and progressed in a more natural way to allow those who haven't seen the last two films to fully appreciate the story. The control scheme does a decent job but it's difficult to argue it's anything special or whether it's more effective than a traditional gamepad control scheme. Then of course you have the graphics which simply don't look as though they are making the most of the Wii hardware. I'm sure fans of the movies will enjoy what's on offer and even with the aforementioned problems it still manages to be a decent action title. The real disappointment is that it's nothing more than a middling action game when it had the potential to be something really enjoyable.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End has the atmosphere and look of a great pirate game, but that's about it. While the sound and characters help capture the essence of the Disney trilogy, the shallow gameplay is too much to endure for the seven or so hours it takes to complete the game. Let's put it this way: if it came down to playing this game for seven hours or walking the plank, it would be a tough choice. Save your hard-earned cash for a barrel of rum and consider a rental.

When it's all said and done, At World's End is a very by-the-book approach to a movie-based game. Even if you're a huge fan of the Pirates trilogy, you'll probably want to pass on At World's End, especially the Wii version due to its terrible control scheme.

Overall, PotC: At World’s End for the PS2 has a lot of unlockable content to earn and play around with, but it’s just not a good game. If you want lots of bonus items, objectives and sub-missions, try The Warriors. If you want lots of fighting and action, with killer combos, try Dynasty Warriors. But for the love of your wallet’s $40, don’t bother with this game at all. Sadly, it’s not even rent-worthy.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End has the atmosphere and look of a great pirate game, but that's about it. While the sound and characters help capture the essence of the Disney trilogy, the shallow gameplay is too much to endure for the seven or so hours it takes to complete the game. Let's put it this way: if came down to playing this game for seven hours or walking the plank, it would be a tough choice. Save your hard-earned cash for a barrel of rum and consider a rental.

Pirates fails to be interesting or utterly, catastrophically bad, but there's one thing for sure – it's not really worth the asking price. If you find it cheap and you like beards and the high seas, consider it.

If you're an obsessive fan of this series - unlikely, after the filmic abortion that was Dead Man's Chest - then you MIGHT find something to catch your interest in this game. All of you other folks out there are purchasing this one at your own risk.

There's nothing terribly wrong with At World's End but, equally, there's little here to recommend. And that's particularly irritating because, initially, there's an undeniable feeling that you're embarking on a great adventure – the game opens impressively and does as decent a job of communicating its potential as it does of subsequently squandering it. But you'll only find that out through extended play, of course. Another case of time altering perception, then.

What Pirates of the Caribbean lacks more than anything are two things: cohesion and challenge. I wouldn't complain about the generic nature of the gameplay if it were challenging, but it has to be challenging in a good way. The kind of challenge that makes you want to do better next time. All I could hope was that there wouldn't be a "next time." Rent this if you must.

Heed our advice now, be yee a Pirates of the Caribbean fan or nay, and steer clear of this scurvy-infested wreck of a game. But take one thing of note away with you from this review though, one thing that you really can hold on to as you pass At World's End by: we'll always play(tm) the crap games so that you don't have to.

Sorry about that, I don't know what came over me. Now that I've calmed down, I realize that I can't stay mad at people for buying this game - if they love the Pirates movies, they'll try the game, not knowing what hell they're setting themselves up for. And I guess I can forgive that. So if you're reading this review and still want to go buy the game, then go ahead, with my blessings. I can't promise you a great time, but you might get something out of it (exactly what god knows). Just promise me you'll at least try not to buy the game at full price - for that truly is piracy - and I'll promise to keep your dirty secret for 3 days. That ought be long enough to drive you back to the store, whimpering, to return it.

The movie carries this game so hard it hurts MY back. To rate this game on design alone, without the movie's characters, music, theme, settings & ideas, this would be a 2. As it stands, the money behind this ensured it was going to look and sound great - its the gameplay that sends it to a watery grave. I'm giving it 4/10 scallywag chickens.

'Another Licensed game' comes to mind straight away... and so it should, as it goes down the same road any other licensed game has gone before it (excluding perhaps Batman on the NES and Spiderman 2 on the PS2, GameCube and Xbox). Yup ladies and gentleman, once again I have had the honour of praying the game would come to an end.

If At World's End had standard combat controls, it wouldn't be a great game, but it'd be solidly mediocre. As it is, it's just no fun to play. Even the biggest Pirates fan will quickly grow tired and toss in their "Dead Man's Chest" DVD to watch while they place an ice pack on their shoulder. That way, they can watch Johnny Depp act funny without having to hurt themselves.

WiiVideo Game Generation
Not only is this one of the worst games on Wii, but it’s also one of the very worst licensed titles of all time. The Wii version in particular is a disaster, with even its DS cousin outperforming it by a wide margin. When developers look to port future titles to the Wii, they should first play Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End for a good example of how not to do it.

Overall, though, if you really want to see Cap’n Jack Sparrow and crew, you do better going to your local movie theater. Otherwise Pirates of the Caribbean for the PlayStation 2, will do nothing more than put a hole in your wallet that you’ll soon quickly regret.
