Disney/Pixar's Buzz Lightyear of Star Command

Buzz Lightyear of Star Command is a nice little prequel to the Toy Story 2 game that appeared last year on the Playstation gaming console. Nothing much new here in overall gameplay, but a nice solid title that details the prior exploits of Buzz Lightyear prior to him hooking up with Woody and friends.

Every level is different, but the action itself can become repetitive after a while. But that remark is not important. The audience that Buzz is made for is playing on a Gameboy for hours and hours without getting bored. So they will like this game, on one condition: they have to know who Buzz is. And the movie is rather old. So before you buy this (also old) game in the Disney Classics (or budget) version, be sure that the child you are buying it for, has a copy of the video 'Toy Story'!

My final thoughts on Buzz Lightyear was that it may not be a game for older gamers, but this game is surely for gamers around the age of seven through ten. Children will find the game quite amusing, since its simplicity level is quite high, the controls are very easy and configured for young hands, and the whole Toy Story atmosphere will be enough to grapple your child's attention as well as his/her mind. Buzz Lightyear should be on retail by the time you read this and it should retail for roughly $30.

This is an arcade game and it belongs to kids, especially since the space-guy comes from a movie targetted at young humans, of course elder people that did like games such as Crash Bandicoot, Spyro or even Mario 64 will find some fun in this game. Remember though that here the target is fast-paced gameplay, not complex level design.

Schlechte Laune? Dann nichts wie Buzz Lightyear gestartet, ein paar Minuten in den knallbunten Umgebungen zu fußwipp-anregender Musik gespielt, und das Leben ist wieder lebenswerter. Allerdings: Das Programm hat zwar keine großen Schwächen, aber viele kleine. Die Steuerung hakt ein wenig, die Levels sind solide statt originell. Grafiken und 3D-Objekte wirken oft ein bisschen lieblos, und die Comic-Zwischensequenzen sind hübsch, aber weniger schön als das Render-Vorbild.

Wer von der phantastischen Computergrafik der Filme angetan ist, erlebt im Spiel eine kleine Enttäuschung: Mit aktuellen 3D-Hüpfern können die Space-Ranger-Missionen keinesfalls mithalten. Die Solo-Abenteuer des Captain Kirk für Grundschüler sind natürlich für die entsprechende Zielgruppe maßgeschneidert. So bereitet Mr. Lightyear den achtjährigen Spielern kurzfristig Spaß, bietet den älteren Semestern aber zu wenig Herausforderung. Wer von den Kinofilmen angetan war, sollte das Geld besser in die DVDs investieren.

Jammer alleen van de eentonige gameplay, veertien keer hetzelfde. Ik denk niet dat je de game nadat je 'm hebt uitgespeeld, ooit nog eens uit de kast haalt.

Note to self: Jump on a bandwagon before it grows stale. Otherwise, something like Buzz Lightyear of Star Command might happen. Granted, running after a boss and shooting things in the process is a way to pass the time, but only for a grand total of five minutes. Graphically not all there, and with gameplay that made me run for the hills, BL will not be on my top 50 games to buy. Please, Activision, no more Buzz.

Buzz Lightyear is a mix of genres gone wrong. The moral of this game is that you can't mix platform and racing genres, at least not like this. The emphasis on time really detracts from this gaming experience and the controls are terrible. While younger gamers are probably going to love the characters and the atmosphere in general, I'm not sure even they will be able overlook how poorly designed this game is. Buzz Lightyear, take it from Krusty the Clown, putting your name on too many products will eventually backfire.

Ce mélange plate-forme/tir/course aurait pu être beaucoup mieux exploité, et se révèle à la longue beaucoup trop répétitif. Des lacunes techniques, et un gameplay très approximatif.

Simples Action-Spielchen, das bei Weitem nicht an das Niveau früherer Disney Titel herankommt!

Seit Toy Story findet Buzz Lightyear, Weltraumchaot mit Mut, in Millionen Kinderherzen einen gemütlichen Platz; sein erstes PC-Spiel wird den Ruhm nicht mehren. Selten geriet eine Disney-Produktion ähnlich lieb-, lust- und leidenschaftslos. Aus der schick berechneten Figur auf der Leinwand ist ein Abziehbild geworden, das Geschichten zum Gähnen erlebt.

Opting for one of the countless other 3D platformers currently bedazzling the gaming sector isn't a bad idea. With little variety in its missions and only a couple of redeeming features, the game won't do much to hold your interest. Although the little ones might enjoy it, for what it costs it seems like an awful waste, especially when Buzz Lightyear toys (which are so much more fun - I can testify) are cheaper. Get your kid a few dolls, or buy the newly released double-disc DVD box set. Whatever you do though, don't let Buzz Lightyear of Star Command ruin your memory of the fantastic film duet.

BL of SC is a fish hook with the mug of a well-known and well-liked cartoon hero as the bait. This game makes a promise to kids, and then, once bought, breaks that promise and replaces it with a crappy game. Buzz Lightyear isn't unplayable, and it definitely isn't the worst game ever made. But it is definitely a game that no one should ever buy, and I pity those who are sucked in by the gimmick. I wish there really were a Buzz Lightyear, because he would probably beat the crap out of the guys who made this game.
