Disney's Magical Quest 3 starring Mickey and Donald

A decently fun platformer, with enough variety to keep it interesting, but one that suffers a little from awkward controls and too few game hours.

Disney's Magical Quest 3 est un bon petit jeu de plates-formes. Il bénéficie de graphismes et de musiques réussis. En revanche, sa difficulté mal dosée et par moment réellement élevée, ne le destine pas aux débutants et sa durée de vie peut paraître assez faible vu le nombre très limité et la linéarité des niveaux. En outre, la série ne se renouvelle pas du tout et ce troisième volet ressemble beaucoup au second. Monsieur Capcom, il faudra penser à apporter quelques améliorations si vous comptez sortir un 4ème opus, sinon, les joueurs ne vous suivront plus.

Disney's Magical Quest 3 is a great platform game for Disney fans of all ages. Although it takes a little bit of time to adjust to the sluggish controls, the game still delivers a solidly entertaining experience. Add a friend to the mix, and it delivers a whole new level of fun. And while game may be far from perfect, it's still one of the better Disney titles to hit the handheld market in some time.

Besides, compared to the majority of kiddie-oriented crap that's clogging up the GBA's arteries in its advanced age, MQ3 is downright fantastic. It's a lush, cartoon-flavored flashback to a different era. Ten years ago, this would have been a great second-string title when players wore out their copies of Yoshi's Island and Chrono Trigger. Here and now it's still worth a look -- especially for Disney aficionados and 16-bit gaming buffs. "Better late than never" might be a slight overstatement in this case... but it's close enough.

It’s easy to see why this game never made it over to the states in the first place. It’s nowhere near as much fun as the previous games in the series, and it's hampered by bad level design and boring gameplay. Fans of the original looking to finally play this long-lost title would be better off going back to the first game and re-playing it, or snagging the GBA port. The same goes for anybody looking to play a good platforming game.

Disney's Magical Quest 3 is one more game in an ever-growing collection that makes good on an extremely old formula. It's not too hard or too easy. For kids, it seems just right. There's nothing more innocent than Disney, so if you're looking to distract the youngsters during a long summer vacation car ride, this is the ticket.
