Alone in the Dark: The Trilogy (1+2+3)

All three Alone in the Dark games are a lot of fun to play and provide hours of challenging puzzles. The awkward camera angles used in the games do make movement and fighting difficult in some cases, but fans of adventure games will find plenty to enjoy. If you have never tried the series or have only played one or two, I would recommend picking up the trilogy.

Undoubtedly, Alone in the Dark remains one of the most ground-breaking games of all time. With its unique 3D perspective, varied camera angles, and satisfying blend of action and adventure, Alone in the Dark created a style of gaming that's been copied time and again. Games like Bioforge, Alien Odyssey, City of Lost Children and even elements of Tomb Raider cloned AitD's captivating, third-person style of play. With the release of Interplay's Alone in the Dark Trilogy, gamers can enjoy all three AitD titles assembled into one package. Although the second and third games lack the magic of the first one, the collection remains a treat for any adventure fan. If you've never checked out the AitD series, here's your chance. Then again, if you've played the games before, this compilation offers nothing new.

Alone in the Dark Trilogy is indubitably shovelware, but fortunately the quality of what's being shoveled is so good that it's not only forgivable, it's actually welcome. Naturally, this collection of the three classic action-adventures from I-Motion holds no appeal for gamers who already own them. But if you're unfamiliar with the series or only have one of the games, this collection's a bargain.
