Alter Ego

Alter Ego ist das ungewöhnlichste Spiel, das 1986 erschienen ist; sofern man überhaupt noch Spiel dazu sagen darf. Ich würde es eher als Unterhaltungs-Software mit Tiefgang bezeichnen. Man sollte recht gute Englischkenntnisse für Alter Ego mitbringen. Obwohl keine Texteingaben per Tastatur nötig sind, sondern komplett mit dem Joystick gespielt wird, muß man doch die Kommentare und Beschreibungen des Programms gut verstehen, sonst kommen Witz und Inhalt mancher Situationen nicht korrekt beim Spieler an. Manche Leute, so auch Heinrich, meinen, daß Alter Ego auf Dauer langweilig wird, da bestimmte Situationen immer wieder auftauchen. Dies stimmt meiner Ansicht nach aber nur halb. Wer es darauf anlegt, jedesmal ein anderes Leben zu führen, wird immer mit neuen Situationen konfrontiert.

Well, now you have a chance to live a virtual second life, and try to take a different path in life. No, this game isn’t like The Sims (going to the toilet, taking kids to school etc.), but it's more focused on situations in one’s life. You decide how your character acts, be it as you would in reality or in a completely different manner. The game covers a whole life, from birth to death.
