The Amazing Spider-Man

Regrettably, Amazing Spiderman isn’t that remarkable in the graphics department. The graphics in the game are nothing special, but to be fair, they aren’t terrible either. Sound, too, is nothing special. I found the music to be better than I had expected. However, as is always the case with PC-speaker sound, it gets annoying after a while. A sad thing is that the game does not save your progress for some reason. The scores I set were not saved, and neither was the take (level) I was in. Every time I restarted the game, I had to start all over again. A pity, for sure.

The Amazing Spider-Man ist ein nettes und solides Geschicklichkeitsspiel, an dem vor allem Kartenzeichner und Tüftler ihre Freude haben werden. Gerade in späteren Spielphasen wird's nämlich ganz schön verzwickt ("Wo war noch gleich der Schalter für diese Tür?"). Technisch bietet der Spinnenknabe schon eher etwas zu meckern. Zwar ist das Helden-Sprite hübsch animiert, aber warum die Spinne (und die anderen Sprites) bei der Amiga-, ST- und MS-DOS-Version dahinschleicht, als habe sie eine Packung Schlaftabletten vernascht, ist mir schleierhaft. Besser sieht's da auf dem C 64 aus.
