Anvil of Dawn

I could go on all week about this game and its greatness, but I won't. Look at the screens and download it at once. It is without a doubt THE best RPG I have ever played!

Anvil of Dawn is an involving game. Whilst the overall premise is fairly standard, the plot development is varied enough to draw you into the story and keep you interested. The game world is packed with puzzles and unique monsters and all the dialogue is supported by text in case you miss any of the speech. Although many of the features make it particularly good for novices it also has enough depth to keep experienced players entertained for more than a few good long hours.

Anvil of Dawn is a fun rpg to play, much more so than some others I've played in the past. What it lacks is a story that grabs you and pulls you into the game. What Anvil of Dawn is, is dungeons & dragons the way it was always meant to be. For those of you who like an in-depth storyline you may not like Anvil of Dawn, otherwise I'd say check it out because it is certainly fun to play.

Auch wenn spielerisch auf Dauer nichts Neues passiert, kann Anvil of Dawn gefallen. Wechselnde Dungeon-Grafiken und Monster sowie die fortlaufende Story motivieren alle ambitionierten Schwertschwinger und Schalterdrücker bis zum letzten Gefecht.

This title walks the line between the combat and puzzles genres very delicately, and most adventurers will find the game maintains an enjoyable balance throughout.

Anvil of Dawn wäre Mitte 1994 sicherlich noch ein echter Erfolg gewesen - allerdings konnten in der Zwischenzeit Spiele wie Stonekeep oder Das Schwarze Auge 2 neue Maßstäbe setzen, so daß lediglich fanatische Rollenspieler und Fantasyfreaks wirklich Geschmack an Anvil of Dawn finden werden. Die sehr gute Hintergrundgeschichte kann einfach nicht über das überaltete Spielsystem und die wenig innovativen Puzzles (die obligatorischen Bodenplatten gibt's en masse) hinwegtäuschen. This is a little dungeon crawler where you embark on a quest, as usual. A quest for what you say? A quest for something big to help against the invading evil warlord. It’s the usual deal: you get a weapon, a few spells and many enemies to kill and corridors to crawl around, only this time it occupies a CD.
