Assault Rigs

You drive and shoot your way through multilevel mazes chockablock with enemy tanks and hazardous trenches; somewhere in this neon quagmire lies your pass to the next level. One day Rigs will go the way of Pong. For now, though, it's at the top of its game.

Un très bon soft, génial à plusieurs mais lassant si l'on y joue seul. Le fun est au rendez-vous.

Minor control problems aside, Assault Rigs plays pretty well and in the later stages gets pretty action-packed, even at the easiest level. Some people may not be too keen on the re-drawing enemies: at first they're an irritant, but later you grow to look on them with a complicated mixture of emotions. Imagine having a rich and generous aunt who often visits you bearing lavish gifts, but is hopelessly incontinent and insists on sitting in your favourite chair, and you'll see what I mean. As well as the normal game, there are a couple of network shooty ones for up to eight people, too. Not bad, really, and quite likeable.

Auf den ersten Blick sieht Assault Rigs wenig spektakulär aus, verblüfft jedoch durch die Geschwindigkeit, mit der man sich durch die Levels ballern kann. Leichte Bedienbarkeit, präzise Steuerung und nicht zuletzt die Multiplayer-Modi sind weitere Pluspunkte, die Assault Rigs zu einem leicht verdaulichen, aber anregenden Freizeitspaß werden lassen.

Assault Rigs é um jogo de tanques em 3D, da Psygnosis, que combina duas experiências distintas: uma com jogadores múltiplos (via conexão em série ou rede IPX) e outra para um jogador.

Können Sie mit dem bescheidenen Äußeren leben und haben einen Hang zu 3D-Actionspielen mit Knobelcharakter, dürften Sie sich durch 42 enorm knackige Levels beißen.

All in all, I'd have to reccommend everyone stay away from this game if you have a choice. The only redeeming qualities I can see in Assault Rigs is the fact there is absolutly no bloodshed in it. Lots of mechanical explosions and such, but no gore. But then again, even this is questionable for some...

Grafiken känns allmänt rörig och ljudet får inte mer än godkänt. Men trots det så är spelet ändå trevligt att spela, om än lite enformigt i längden. Däremot kan man spela åtta personer via nätverk och då borde det vara en riktig höjdare. Tyvärr måste varje spelare ha ett eget exemplar av spelet.

The bottom line? The controls are sloppy, the graphics are sloppy, and the camera views are sloppy. Three strikes and you're out, Psygnosis. Assault Rigs isn't a truly bad game, but neither is it anything special - it's destined to be lost in the sea of mediocrity.
