Baryon

DOS version

One of the best shooters for any platform!

The Good
I wish I could get my hands on the registered version of Baryon... other than the amazing Tyrian, Baryon is by far the best shoot-'em-up for any platform, let alone the PC. It's that good, really!

Baryon has excellent graphics - smooth, slick and non-obtrusive, and great work has been put into making it one fast little monkey. Running at full 60 frames per second on anything from a 486 to a Pentium III, this baby rocks! It also utilizes a bizarre tweaked 256x200 VGA mode... go figure. Baryon also has some of the best music heard in a computer game to date. I only wish it was player at higher quality and was longer, but perhaps the registered version of the game actually sports exactly that.
With great gameplay, good replay value (for a 1-level demo!), excellent controls and overall blast-fest for the entire family, how can anyone go wrong?

The Bad
Nada. Baryon rules!

The Bottom Line
A great, little-known game which didn't get even a percent of the attention it should have got.
