Great animation and plenty of bang-bang make this the best action-adventure since Flashback. You'll find yourself doing the same thing over and over again; weak enemy animations. A great mix of gunplay and puzzles, sure to please any arcade fan.

If you like side-scrolling shooters with adventure elements or just want an action game where you set your own pace - pick Blackthorne and take your time exploring the nice worlds it creates. If you're just looking for a cool game to play - this one's definitely for you.

Overall, its a great package – a real gamer's game, so to say.

Blackhawk gehört zu den Programmen, die man einfach startet und spielt - ohne großes Intro, ohne langwieriges Regelstudium. Die Bedienung erlaubt trotzdem einige Finessen. Vor allem die Unterscheidung zwischen gezogener und weggesteckter Waffe gefällt mir gut - vom coolen nach-hinten-Schießen ganz zu schweigen. Sicher, mit Blutspritzern wird nicht gespart, aber bei einem Action-Adventure ohne Realismus-Anspruch stört mich das nicht. Die Grafik sieht auf den Bildschirmfotos etwas müde aus, gefällt aber durch ihre detailreiche Animation. Die Monster sehen richtig schön übertrieben böse aus - vom grünen Schützen-Ork bis zum daherrollenden Steinmonster.

But whereas Flashback and Another World are well-paced games that ooze atmosphere and excitement, Blackhawk is a monotonous plod through level upon level of similar puzzles and graphics. It's not a bad game by any means, but by the same token, it's not a particularly good one either.
