The sequel to the 1989 game Waterloo takes us back to the village of Borodino on the 7th of September, 1812, during the bloodiest battle of Napoleon's invasion of Russia.

As in the previous game, the player is observing the battle area through a 3D perspective while issuing commands by typing in certain pre-defined text commands that are combined with the names of commanders, places, and the time of execution. Players receive reports from their officers indicating whether or not the orders have been carried out to the letter.

Borodino DOS The French HQ, view toward North.
A cannon is firing, its animated flame shooting out.
DOS version has no sound, so this is as exciting as it gets.
Borodino DOS Usually, a historically correct troop commanders name is used, but for some units they are unknown, so a troop name is used instead, like here, for the 3rd Foot Artillery unit.
Borodino DOS The battle starts with predefined battle orders, and I'll let the computer play both sides here. This is the view from Napoleons HQ, facing East.
Borodino DOS What Napoleon or Kutuzov wants may not be achievable, and a subcommander can withdraw when things are going bad.
Try, try again.
