You say you want a Revolution? I'd have to agree. In Lure of the Temptress and Beneath a Steel Sky, England's Revolution Software combined intelligent themes, character depths, graphic beauty, and ease of use to splendid effect. The newest edition to its canon, Circle of Blood, is easily its finest moment.

Wem der erwähnte Designschnitzer um das Ziegenrätsel, die fehlende automatische Speicherfunktion im Todesfall des Protagonisten und die teils langatmigen Dialoge nichts ausmachen, der wird mit einer interessanten, filmreif erzählten Geschichte und glaubwürdigen Charakteren belohnt, die man schnell in sein Herz schließen wird. Aufgrund des überwältigenden Erfolges von weltweit über einer Million verkauften Exemplaren, wurde kurze Zeit später ein zweiter Teil veröffentlicht, in dem die geschilderten "Kritikpunkte" konsequent ausgemerzt wurden.

In the end of it all, Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars is a one-of-a-kind game that will provide you hours and hours of sheer fun, and also make you learn a few things. Travel the world, start an urban myth or two, discover a dark secret... The trailer doesn’t lie. This game rocks.

Without question, Circle of Blood is an adventure of epic proportions and ranks as one of the most intriguing games to roll out this year. Its only drawback is that the graphics might be too real. After playing the game, you might find yourself wanting to pack your bags and take in the European sights first-hand. But if you're lacking for travel funds and must stay home and play computer games, Circle of Blood definitely won't disappoint you.

Conclure sur un tel jeu est un véritable plaisir, mais il y a tellement à dire que la synthèse est difficile. C’est pourquoi je me contenterai de vous conseiller très très vivement ce chef-d’œuvre si vous êtes fan de jeux d’aventure. C’est un must !

Broken Sword is a fun, cartoon-style, graphic adventure game from the people who brought us Lure of the Temptress and Beneath a Steel Sky and, I must say, I enjoyed it much more than those previous titles.

Wer sich ersteinmal in die hervoragende Story eingespielt hat, möchte diese bei seinem nächsten Adventure-Spiel nicht missen. Durch Baphomets Fluch zeigt die englische Spieleschmiede wie wichtig eine gute Hintergrundgeschichte in einem Spiel sein kann.

Baphomets Fluch kann von Beginn an begeistern. Die herrliche Zeichentrickgrafik, die erfrischende Vertonung und die spannende Story fesseln stundenlang an den Bildschirm. Man möchte unbedingt wissen, wie es denn nun weitergeht.

Circle of Blood is a solid adventure game. It was put together like a movie, with the acting and soundtrack masterfully mixed. The graphics and animation were wonderful, and it is obvious that a lot of time was given to this area of the game. In fact, I enjoyed the entire premise of the game. If you have an interest in the Templar Knights and have enjoyed other animated games like the Riddle of Master Liu, then you will most likely enjoy this game as well. There is plenty to like about this game and they do continue to assault you with one-liners that are guaranteed to make you grin.

Shadow of the Templars has an unusual whimsical quality. This is partly due to the characters you meet – most of whom are eccentric, with hilarious comments and responses to George’s various adventures. Then there are the inventory items, which are found in odd places and can be used in peculiar ways. This light touch perfectly balances the dramatic tension as the story builds toward the final encounter at game’s end. Although the game’s ending is well-crafted and animated, events toward the end can be confusing. There are enough twists in this tale of intrigue and power lust that it’s a little hard to figure out who is working against whom.

Baphomets Fluch bietet wirklich so ziemlich alles, was man von einem guten Adventure erwarten darf. Die Story ist sehr spannend und komplex, ohne daß sie sich in langweiligen Details allzusehr verliert. Vor allem die Verquickung der historischen Fakten mit der erfundenen Handlung ist sehr gelungen. Dazu gibt es wundervoll unterstützende Musik und professionell gemachte, deutsche Sprachausgabe. Das Rätseldesign kommer zum Glück, abgesehen von einer Mini-Schachpartie, ohne Verschiebe- oder Farbenpuzzles aus.

Für 5-10€ bekommt man mit Baphomets Fluch eine kleine Adventureperle zum günstigen Preis. Auf meinem XP System lief das Spiel problemlos und ich hatte nur sehr wenige Abstürze. Das intensive Spielerlebnis durch die tolle Musik und die grafische Gestaltung, sowie die geistreichen, sarkastischen Dialoge heben Baphomets Fluch von anderen klassischen Adventures ab. Man hat es eben nicht mit schrägen Comicfiguren der Marke Day of Tentacle oder Monkey Island zu tun, sondern ist in eine realistische Story eingebunden, die sich wie ein spannendes Buch liest bzw. spielt. Allerdings darf man die Schwächen des Titels nicht vergessen. Die starke Dialoglastigkeit ist nicht jedermanns Geschmack und geht zu Lasten der Rätsel. Diese kommen sehr einfach daher und führen oftmals in Sackgassen.

Broken Sword har mitt i mysteriet en mycket humoristisk underton och figurerna framställs som karikatyrer på ett mycket bra sätt. Grafik och ljud hör dessutom till de bättre i genren, tyvärr så till den milda grad att du måste växla ganska ofta mellan de två CD-skivorna. Hade handlingen bara gått lite snabbare skulle det här ha kunnat vara en riktig höjdare. Men det är fortfarande ett bra spel för tålmodiga spelare.
