Corridor 7: Alien Invasion

Corridor 7 is a game which has surpassed its legacy as a Capstone game. While it is not perfect, and slogging through 30-odd levels that look similar can get a little boring after a while, it is without a doubt a good game with an atmosphere that no-one really expected. It is a pity that Capstone did not continue a good run.

Fast-paced action, plenty to do, and some nice extras. The sound and graphics aren't all that great, hurting the overall package. If this is the sort of gameplay you'll love, it's worth a look. If it's not though, this game won't convert you.

Corridor 7 offers none of the excitement you should get with this sort of game. It's much less fun than Wolfenstein, has nothing like the atmosphere of the flawed In Extremis and doesn't even deserve comparisons with the outstandingly good Shareware version of Doom.

Ich fand Corridor 7 damals richtig gut, grade nach vielen Spielen in der Hölle (DOOM) und im Fantasygenre (Heretic) hatte ich richtig Lust auf ein Spiel mit abgefahrenen Aliens und metallischen Gangsystemen einer Forschungsstation. Auch die musische Untermalung in Corridor 7 ist nett gemacht und erzeugt eine gruselige Atmosphäre, ich mochte dieses Spiel einfach. (Anmerkung: Ich spielte es das erste Mal, nachdem ich DOOM schon kannte.) Corridor 7 ist mit Sicherheit kein Meilenstein in der Shootergeschichte und auch nicht besser als mancher Konkurrenzshooter, aber die blankgeputzten Metallböden und (manchmal unfreiwillig komischen) Aliens verliehen dem Spiel einen Charme, dem sich damals nur wenige entziehen konnten.

Playing it is a way of passing the time, I suppose, but so's picking your nose or counting imaginary haemorrhoids - both of which are marginally preferable. Save your money, this is dire.
