Crusader: No Regret

Crusader: No Regret has all the right elements to produce a top-notch action game, including superb running-and-gunning, great visuals, and hours of intense gameplay. You'll have no regrets about joining Crusader's crusade.

If you liked Crusader: No Remorse, you'll love No Regret. If you like blowing things up, you'll love No Regret. IF you don't have a speedy PC, you won't love No Regret. You get the picture.

As in the original Crusader, a multiplayer option (or patch -- hint, hint) would probably make this the head-to-head action game of the year, especially if Origin added in network or Internet play that would allow squads of Silencers to face off with all the great weapons and countermeasures at their disposal. Nonetheless, No Regret is an absorbing visual feast that pits the player against some of the toughest scenarios to be encountered in this genre. Newcomers will find this game difficult, even on its easiest setting, and may tire of the often frustrating searches for the sometimes oddly placed keycards or switches, but fans of the original Crusader, the old Ultimas, or anyone who likes a big, fast-paced, gorgeous shoot-'em-up will love this one. As a bonus, if you look around this holiday season you can most likely find No Regret bundled with a copy of No Remorse for under $35.

In the end, what makes Crusader: No Regret a winning a game is its ability to utterly move you out of your own headspace and into the Silencer's. For the few hours a day that you let yourself escape into it, your vocation as the Silencer becomes a high-minded obsession, a fervent crusade, a battle of wits and reflexes that takes an ample measure of control to not only command, but also to walk away from, back into your own life, with no regret.

Een verdomd moeilijk spel dat er toch steeds opnieuw in slaag boeiend te blijven. Crusader veegt echt de vloer aan met zijn concurrenten en dit komt door het eenvoudige gegeven dat het mogelijk is in Crusader om totale controle uit te oefenen op tegenstander en omgeving.

In the end, Crusader: No Regret is just as fun as the first part, of course. However, the question remains why this was released as a standalone game. An expansion pack providing these new missions would be done perfectly, and for a smaller price.

On the game play side, Origin decided to make this game a little simpler than the first Crusader by removing some elements such as the equipment shop in-between levels. This changes the game somewhat and makes it a very straight forward shooter with very little to shift your attention from the action at hand. This is the only reason a point was removed from this games rating.

Make no mistake, though; No Regret is an amazingly good game, and - once again - leaves the player wanting even more. I hope The Silencer has a long, glorious history ahead of him.

Die Ähnlichkeit zwischen Crusader: No Remorse und Crusader: No Regret sind so gravierend, daß es nicht leicht ist, hier ein Urteil zu fällen. Nun gut - die Grafik ist etwas bunter, die Bewaffnung wurde aufgestockt und die Puzzles sind ein wenig verzwickter. Von echten Innovationen kann aber nicht die Rede sein.

Men trots denna smärre brist i det tekniska utförandet så är det inget större fel på spelkvaliteten.
