Press Release - PC CD-ROM:
Interactive Experience Cyberia Now Available on CD-ROM from Interplay Productions

Irvine, California - December 2, 1994 - Blending Hollywood cinematography and CD-ROM gaming action, Interplay Productions announced today the release of the arcade/adventure game Cyberia with near photo-realistic images, full-screen, full-motion video, and furiously intense game play. Now available for IBM and 100% compatibles on the CD-ROM format, Cyberia features a musical score by Thomas Dolby's Headspace. "Cyberia is an arcade/adventure game that pushes interactive entertainment to the next level," stated Jerry Luttrell, marketing manager for Interplay Productions. "The full-screen, photorealistic action sequences are simply stunning. When combined with the cinematic adventure gaming and Thomas Dolby music and sound effects, it creates an experience that is highly addictive, state-of-the-art fun."

Cyberia is set in a future where global terrorist's rule and humanity lives on the brink of destruction. Now, the ultimate doomsday device has just been discovered beneath the frozen wasteland of Northern Asia. Code named Cyberia, it was designed in an era of long forgotten peace by the most brilliant minds in nano and cybernetic technology. The careful combination of cinematography, adventure gaming, puzzle solving and arcade action are woven together to create a top-notch story.

A CD-ROM quality musical score and astounding sound effects flow around the player's actions. These stunning effects and musical score were written specifically for Cyberia at the Thomas Dolby Headspace production studio. Fully digitized speech with realistic lip synching round out the audio experience that brings Cyberia to life.

An epic experience over two years in the making, Cyberia integrates multiple story lines and plot paths with an extremely simple interface. Designed and developed by Xatrix Interactive Design the fluid integration of technology and Hollywood film techniques combine innovation and interactivity that results in visually stunning graphics. Developed on state-of-the-art Silicon Graphics Workstations, Cyberia accomplishes highly realistic character movement using digitally captured motion which takes animation to new levels of fluidity and precision.

Players are able to set the adjustable difficulty levels for adventure, puzzle and arcade elements. Action sequences challenge the player with multiple scenarios and several levels of difficulty, which enhance the replay value and add depth to the gaming experience.

Cyberia was produced by Interplay's Ali Atabek, who joined forces with Interplay earlier this year. Atabek is the former president and founder of Mind Craft and brings with him a wealth of industry experience and game development savvy. Atabek is best known as the designer of Magic Candle and Siege.

Cyberia runs on computers equipped with a 386-16 or faster with 4Mb of RAM, DOS 3.3 or higher, hard drive and mouse, and supports Sound Blaster or 100% compatibles. A joystick is recommended, and an MPC compliant CD-ROM drive is required.

    A startling glimpse into tomorrow...

In a future where global terrorists rule and mankind lives on the brink of destruction, the ultimate doomsday device has just been discovered beneath the frozen wasteland of the Northern Asia.

Codenamed Cyberia, it was designed in an era of long forgotten peace by the most brilliant minds in nano and cybernetic technology. In an ancient world of hope, it was to be the ultimate protector of a new order. In the year 2027, it stands as the instrument of humanity's destruction.

A gaming experience beyond anything before it....

Cyberia is the most realistic electronic, cinematic experience ever created. Technically and aesthetically, it is unlike anything seen before... an interactive movie under the player's control in a synthetic world more sophisticated and engaging than anything imagined. Stunning sound effects and a musical score which flows around player's actions combine with state-of-the-art graphics so realistic and fluid that they form not just a game but an experience.

A product which is unmatched in the marketplace...

Cyberia is easily the most advanced gaming environment ever created for the home computer. Technically, it will astound gamers. Visually, it will capture their imaginations and draw them into its experience. Creatively, it encompasses aspects from both action and adventure in a way which will appeal to fans of both games. Simply put, there is nothing even close to it in the marketplace and it stands to challenge the standards for both the gaming industry and retail sales.
