Varmasti yksi tunnelmallisimmista koskaan tehdyistä seikkailupeleistä, johon cyberpunkin idea ja ajatusmaailma on sisäistetty ihailtavan tarkasti.

DreamWeb ist ein klasse Adventure, das mit neuen Ideen überzeugt und sehr stimmig gelungen ist. Zwar ist die Story nichts für einen Innovationspreis, aber sie passt.

Dreamweb sait distiller une ambiance très prenante. Par sa réalisation sans artifices mais attachante, il devrait vous captiver des heures entières.

A gritty story and style and almost unlimited exploration. Tiny view window and graphics give the game a dated look; more depth would be nice. An involving gameworld and premise; not as polished as the best adventures, but definitely worth a look.

Mit Dreamweb will Empire groß im Adult-Adventure-Bereich mitmischen. Eine thriller-ähnliche Spielatmospähre und ungeschminkte Darstellung selbst harter Gewalt soll diesmal vorzugsweise ein erwachsenes Publikum ansprechen. Leider wird der schaurig blutige Abenteuerspaß auch von einigen Schönheitsfehlern getrübt.

Complaints aside, Dreamweb is a title that has become infamous for one particular scene rather than the deeply provocative storyline that runs throughout. Anyone who has played it from start to finish is sure to be able to recollect, with clarity, the most memorable parts as the story unfolds; such is the power of its themes and distinctly downbeat ending.

Upea konsepti valitettavasti järkkyy toteutuksen puutteisiin. Kaikki on liian helppoa, jopa niin, että järjettömän yksinkertaiset ratkaisut eivät tule aina edes mieleen. Kun pelin yleinen kaava on selvinnyt ei mikään tuota vaikeuksia - kokenut seikkailija ratkaisee pelin päivässä. Vetoa ei löydy toisen pelikerran vertaa kun vielä juonikin on liian lineaarinen. Loppukin tunnelma läsähtää järkyttävään bugisuuteen. Peli ei saata käynnistyä, räjähtää käsiin latautumisen jälkeen tai romahtaa kesken kaiken. Eikä vika ole laitekohtainen. CD- versiossa on sentään puhetta ja kauniit taustamusiikit - jos ne vain sattuu saamaan kuuluville.

Blown off heads and dismembered bodies may be not a thing that will impress too much in pixelated images, but these were some of the first bloody and gory images of the videogames (along with one of the first explicit sex scenes), and the violence it contains is not dissolved by the graphics.

Grafisk er ikke Dreamweb særlig imponerende for året det kom, men musikk rettferdiggjør og oppveier for der det siger tilbake visuelt. Selve spilleområdet er nokså lite og presenteres fra et perspektiv ovenfra. I grensesnittet finnes også et zoom-vindu for den som er interessert i hver eneste lille detalj. Tittelen kan best beskrives som et eventyrspill i typen "Blade Runner", med hårrivende utfordringer og mysterier. Hent det ned og bedøm selv.

This won't take hours. Once you have killed the first of the seven forces of evil the rest come along quite quickly. If dark, depressing adventure games are your kind of thing, this should capture your imagination and keep you occupied for a while.

DreamWeb feels like it should be a much better game than it is. There is a lot of effort put into small details to give the game a great ambience. Unfortunately, not as much effort or creativity is put into the main script to make the game a worthwhile adventure. Together with the poor interface, I simply cannot recommend this game. It is not terrible, but there are too many better games to play instead.

you’re a fan of cyberpunk and looking for a good adventure to suit your tastes, play the brilliant Blade Runner, the charming and hilarious Tex Murphy series, or the classic (and now legally free) Beneath a Steel Sky. As for DreamWeb? It doesn’t really belong. It simply follows the credo of cliché, ending up as nothing more than a red herring itself, leaving gamers hunched down in the rain, pining for the story arc, atmosphere, and philosophical undertones that great sci-fi has to offer.

Quite frankly, this story made no pretence at sophistication. Not even the final sequence saved it. There were a few teasing puzzles but they were well and truly overshadowed by the dreary atmosphere. As far as I can see this title is only notable for the string of severed arms and mutilated bodies you will see and, of course, the 'sex' scene where you surprise one of your victims in bed with his lover. Although it had potential, it petered out almost as soon as it began.
