Extreme Assault is without question the best action shooter game (not to be confused with first-person 3D shooters or strategic war games, which are really quite different) I have ever played. While its basic structure and goals do not in any way represent a major revolutionary leap forward -- indeed, this type of game has been around in one form or another since the very beginning of computer games -- its implementation is so stunningly superior to anything else out there that it clearly merits a high rating. My one warning is that if you buy it you may suffer discontent playing any similar game around today, and you may be hooked for a whole lot longer than you think.

None of the problems in the game can take away from the fun of playing Extreme Assault. It's pure mindless action with excellent, stunning looking levels, a huge explosion count (virtually everything in the game is gleefully combustible) and it's simply an enormously entertaining game. For action lovers, Extreme Assault is a must-have and is simply the best game of this type around.

Adrenaline Vault, The (AVault)
Extreme Assault is one of the most visually stunning games available today. It takes advantage of almost every advancement in technology that a game can and combines that with a solid environment to play in. The missions are packed with detail that keeps the player coming back for more, even after dying time after time. One of the only negatives to the game is the repetitiveness of the different missions. There are only so many things that you can do over the course of the 50 missions and these tend to repeat throughout those missions. But what the game does is create an action-rich 3D game that is exciting to play. If you look at other 3D games available, you could argue that they are repetitive as well. If what you are looking for is an action rich game that features stunning graphics and good action, then Extreme Assault should fulfill those needs.

Edge
In the field of PC software development, there's a tendency to bolt a simple arcade-style format onto an impressive 3D engine in the hope that the technology will carry the gameplay. But while Extreme Assault sports that potentially uneasy mix of no-nonsense shoot 'em up action and cutting-edge visuals, it's a formula that instantly impresses, thanks no doubt to a design that squeezes every last bit of mileage from the helicopter genre, not to mention a relentless pace.
