Nonetheless, the bad parts aside, this game is very original, and beautifully made. You are in control of 3 goblins, each of them having some special abilities. For completing each level, you'll have to carry out some tasks. Some puzzles are simple, but some will require you to let go of logic and use your imagination :) None of the levels and missions are alike and the scenery is very diverse so the game never gets dull. The graphics are pictoresque and very detailed for the time. On the other hand, the sound is unsatisfactory so that's another drawback, but since this is and adventure / puzzle game it's not essential. In conclusion, an absolute must for all adventure/puzzle lovers!

Gobliiins è un gioco abbastanza unico e soltanto i suoi seguiti ne catturano l'essenza, seppur in parte stroncata dall'ovvio smarrimento innovativo. E' bello, originale e inevitabilmente acerbo, a distanza di numerosi anni dalla sua pubblicazione non teme affatto la sfida con il tempo che ce lo presenta ancora oggi meritevole di essere giocato non per valori storici ma per un divertimento sincero e naturale, sostenuto da meccaniche di gioco troppo originali per invecchiare.

Gobliiins beschert uns eine knackige Rätselei, gewürzt mit einer Menge Humor. Auf den ersten Blick beeindruckt die hervorragend gezeichnete VGA-Grafik. Die Animationen der Gestalten und einige Rätsel sind dermaßen witzig, daß man trotz kleiner Unfeinheiten Gobliiins Suchtcharakter zusprechen darf. Jeder Raum steckt voller lustiger Überraschungen - das Paßwortsystem läßt die Motivation noch höher steigen. Die Idee ist zwar nicht die allerneueste, die Soundeffekte auch nicht die Besten, aber dem Spiel- und Lachvergnügen tun sie keinen Abbruch. Für alle Knobelfans mit Sinn für Humor: sollte man haben. Spielerische Unterschiede zwischen den Versionen gibt's nicht.

Man sagt oft, dass Nachfolger nie so gut sind wie das erste seiner Art. Ob bei Spielen oder Filmen, dieser Ansicht ist man in der Regel. Hier sage ich das genaue Gegenteil! Gobliiins hat mir als erstes Spiel dieser Art am wenigsten gefallen. Gründe hierfür sind vor allem die fehlende Speichermöglichkeit und die Möglichkeit zu sterben. Wie eingangs erwähnt, hatte ich in der Vergangenheit viele Probleme mit dem Spiel und habe es oft frustriert wieder weggepackt. Nun hatte ich mir allerdings vorgenommen, es durchzuspielen und habe es nach mehreren Fehlschlägen und sinnlosen Aktionen nach 20 Stunden beendet. An sich ist Gobliiins kein schlechtes Spiel aber man sollte die nötige Ausdauer mitbringen. Adventure-Anfängern würde ich eher davon abraten, mit diesem Titel zu beginnen.

In conclusion, Gobliiins is a challenging adventure game with many puzzles but little plot. The ability to control multiple characters with different skills is an innovative idea for its time and has become the hallmark of the Gobliiins series. Though the game’s extreme difficulty may frustrate some players, gamers who enjoys solving twisted, illogical puzzles will enjoy working their way through its various worlds. For others, however, what is written on the game’s box cover—"The King Has Turned Into a Raving, Drooling Lunatic! You’re Next."—may not be quite as humorous as it first appears after several hours of play.

Gobliiins resultó ser un divertido pasatiempos en su época, con el éxito suficiente como para propiciar continuaciones. Sin embargo, hoy día se hace un juego de difícil digestión, básicamente por sus errores técnicos, por la ausencia del aliciente narrativo, y porque la única compensación a la hora de finalizar una retorcida cadena de puzzles es otra igual o más retorcida.
