Hammer of the Gods

There are five levels of difficulty, but with the normal difficulty setting, the game is not easy to beat. Another feature worth mentioning is the game length. There are five(!) game lengths: Full, short, tutorial, PBEM short and long. One feature that makes this game infinitely replayable is the random map generator. The graphics are nicely done and together with the great music weave a wonderful atmosphere. All in all a great game and definitely a must for every strategy fan.

Hammer of the Gods is first of all, a strategy game. It might be too simple and too repetitive for hard core strategy gamers but it will surely appeal to all the gamers with quality of SVGA graphics and remarkable CD music.

HOG est un bon jeu de conquête/stratégie. L'univers des Vikings, le SVGA et les combats en manuel sont des atouts de poids en faveur de ce challenger de l'inégalable Warlords 2.

Vikings, this is your game. If the whole Nordic thing turns you off, you probably won't get it. A fresh and original concept, realized with energy and zest. The whole is decidedly better than its parts.

Genauso wie heutzutage schwedische Popgruppen die internationalen Charts erobern, starteten die Wikinger bereits vor mehreren Jahrhunderten ihren Beutezug durch Europa. Dieses illustre Völkchen darf sich nun in einem Strategiespiel von New World Computing Nächte und Schwerter um die Ohren hauen.

Holistic Design hade kunnat göra ett alldeles utmärkt jobb med detta spel. Jag vill inte kritisera Hammer of the Gods för att det gjorts till ett slags fantasispel. Det är en rent personlig åsikt. Men just stridssekvenserna drar ner betyget från mycket bra till medelmåttigt.
